Gary & Mylinda Baits, Missionaries to Costa Rica

We give thanks for the following:
*Isabella, and Treyci, from our home church in Santo Tomas, followed Christ in baptism!  Volunteers Larry and Robin were there and told us what a great day it was.
*At a recent mission conference in Springfield, IL, the good people of the Great Rivers Region took an offering of nearly $5000 to help with a church building in Alajuelita (near San Jose).  GRR has sent several groups to work on the building and wants to see the work continue as the church reaches out to its very needy community.
*The same conference also gave $3000 to the "Break the Chains" campaign of American Baptist Women!
*Both Mylinda and Gary had great visits to Oregon churches.
We ask your prayers for the following:
*Full funding for our ministry and for the ministries of all our international Ministries colleagues.
*The Costa Rican Baptists are working quickly and creatively to find resources to put a roof on the church building in Leon Trece.  The rainy season is upon them and they need a functioning building to serve their community.
On personal and family:
* Jamie working as a lifeguard at Redwood Glen Christian Conference Center in CA for the summer
* Next semester, Jamie will be serving as a Ministry Intern with Campus Ministries and as a Spanish tutor with Academic Services at Pacific Lutheran University.  Jamie’s birthday is May 29th.
* Micah finishing up a strong and busy soccer season with Port Angeles High School
* Next semester for Micah re-entry into life, youth group and school in Costa Rica without his sister nearby, but with a lot more height than when he left there a year ago.
* Enjoyment of springtime, Family Camp at Lake Crescent, relaxed time with family in-between travel commitments
* Logistics of transition such as house repairs and rentals, dog and car care, family re-adjustments and the everyday decisions that need to be made to make things work
* Re-establishment of work in Costa Rica and clear definitions with partners about focus of ministry together.
Gracias,  Gary and Mylinda

Reminder!!!  We are sure you have received the Baits e-mail regarding the short term “double your gift” offer so this is just a reminder. When you send in a first time gift of $200 - $2,000 your money will be doubled by a matching amount from the Luther Rice Society.  This money must be received by International Ministries before June 30th, of  2009 to qualify for the matching funds.   If you have been considering a gift for the Baits mission work we ask that you please send it in as soon as possible so as to take advantage of this great opportunity.

Ways to Help

Please ask your church to consider making on going support of the Baits mission work part of the church annual budget.  This will help to keep the Baits on the mission field and will greatly impact the people of  Costa Rica.

We thank you and pray for your continued commitment to support the Baits' with your prayers, friendship and financial giving.
