Worth More Than a Thousand Words

By the time you read this journal, our Annual Report, Write the Vision Down, is in the hands of 160 churches and individual donors.  They also received a DVD-video about the Girls’ Club ministry.  This report includes colorful photos of people and places and gives an overview of the exciting things that are happening in Chile as the gospel changes lives.   You know the saying about one picture.  We trust this report will be worth your time, also.

NEW!  You can view the annual report now by clicking on RESOURCES on our profile page.

Be Part of the Chile Network

Upon reading Write the Vision Down, we hope that you identify with the vision of the gospel we are responding to in Chile.  We invite you to join our Chile Network.  You can be part of this network in four ways:

Write to us.  You may like to exchange ideas and information with us about doing ministry that Creates Economic Opportunity, Develops Church Leaders, or Opens Minds and Hearts to Christ.  The Chile Network can be an affinity group to build up the church in our different contexts.

Give Your passion for making disciples and International Ministries’ capacity for partnering with Christian groups and churches around the world has drawn us together in an exciting relationship.  You make this work possible through your generous and gracious gifts.  It is a “work of grace.”  (2 Cor. 8)  Please find address information for your donations below.

Pray   Let us covenant to pray for one another.

Share   Many of your church members, friends, and family are just as interested in supporting global missions as you are, but they may not know about the opportunities to connect personally with our missionaries.  Will you share our report with those who might be interested in being part of the Chile Network?

Some Good Things We Have Seen

We were at the Central Valley District meeting recently in Linares.  The pastor of the Talca church, Isaias Sanchez, told Barbara that the women in the church had made some dolls for the Girls’ Clubs.  Turns out that after hearing about the Clubs in January at the convention, the vision touched their hearts and they want to help!

Two young women in the Curihue church are leading Girls’ Clubs in two rural Mapuche schools.  One of them is a new Club.  These are one-room schools where the professor welcomes the Clubs and their positive influence.  Through this and similar initiatives, the churches gain stature in the community.

Dwight invited Daniel Vivanco, the director of Los Rios District (the southernmost area of the convention, including the Mapuche churches) to teach in the Berea Institute this semester.  He is teaching a combined Old Testament and Reading Comprehension class.  We have watched Daniel develop into a wise leader and a master teacher over the years.  It is so gratifying to see him helping people to overcome the fears and barriers that hold them back from ministry.

Missions was the theme at the Los Rios District meeting in April.  Several months ago we used parts of a book by IM missionaries Stan Slade and Ruth Mooney to tell them the story of the modern missions movement.  We spoke about the passion for sharing the gospel with neglected peoples, prayer, and the innovative giving that started the movement.

Lo and behold, at the April gathering the churches organized themselves into groups that will dedicate a percentage of their earnings in weavings, beekeeping and other endeavors to the District’s church-planting vision.

                                 Never think people aren’t listening!

Some Prayer Requests

Please pray for all those in our Network who are without jobs or are facing painful changes because of the recession.  Two people who selflessly and energetically helped us produce our annual report are themselves out of work, although highly qualified and talented.

We will be in the U. S. from August through January.  Pray for the transitions our boys will face, and for opportunities to share with churches and individuals.

We are beginning to gather invitations to visit churches and tell the story of the Chile Network.  Please write to us or our MPT leader, Betty Helpa to coordinate a visit.  E-mails:  dbbolick95@yahoo.com  or  betty.helpa@gmail.com
