Ministry Update

Dear Friends in Christ,

Thank you for giving to the 2006 World Mission Offering and for the gifts to International Ministries directed toward my ongoing support needs.

I wanted to keep you updated so that you can continue praying with us.

The Sunday School Curriculum Editorial Group is continuing its reorganization process at the same time we are writing lessons. We can praise God that a publisher is now printing off lessons so they will be ready by January for all age levels. We plan to try a new publisher for another series of lessons shortly.

At our October meeting, which I mentioned in my last letter, we were surprised by a proposal that several persons who work together with junior high school kids wished to write only for that level. But two days later we learned that youth/young adults had formed a group of writers as well, leaving us with only two persons to write for adults. However, we believe that this is one of those God surprises, leading us to coordinate between the different age levels but to hold our working meetings separately. (We believe this will actually save time and money as many of the groups are regional.) As a result, we have formed a new group of writers for adults and they have enthusiastically begun their work.

Please pray that we will continue to be sensitive to God's leading as all the teams (new and old) will be meeting in January to finalize our new way of functioning. We hope to find a new coordinator at that time as well. (I had shared about having an administrator and our prayers were answered – it looks like the team structure will eliminate the need for one.)

I will be giving the final exam to my seminary students this week in Greek. I have felt good that the seminary gave the course more hours this semester and that we have gotten further along. This group of students was excited to see that they could recognize some of the words in the Greek New Testament.

Next week I will embark on a new facet of ministry at the seminary, teaching a course on the bachelors (licentiate, they call it here) degree level. As I am one of the few seminary professors here who has a masters degree, I was able to help out in the new degree level, which is open to any church layperson or pastor. I will be teaching "Principles of Teaching" based on Howard Hendrick´s book "Teaching to Change Lives." I ask for your prayers as I have not taught this level before and the class is quite large.

Katy turns six years old on December 5 and is very excited about this! She even invited her school teacher to come for roast pig.

We are gearing up for all the Christmas activities at church as I am sure you are as well. Again, many thanks and blessings on you for your faithful support.

Have a blessed Christmas,

Sue
