The Best

Christmas Gift

Dear Friends,

December is the best time of year to be in Chiang Mai.  The month starts with a holiday for the King’s birthday on December 5.  The temperature cools down to the low 80s during the day, and low 70s at night.  (And even cooler in the mountains!)

It’s a time for Christmas carols and festive decorations, and lots of community outreach activities. Missionaries from different parts of the world share their favorite Christmas foods at dinner events.  And I am blessed to receive lots of Christmas cards from friends like YOU!  So much to be thankful for!

The New Life Center was recently honored to receive a special visit from Melanne Verveer, the U.S. Ambassador for Global Women’s Issues. She is highly invested in opposing human trafficking, and promoting issues which affect women’s safety and status globally.

Most unfortunately, there continues to be a persistent need for the services of the New Life Center.

In fact, between July and October, we received 17 new emergency referrals, 14 of these girls being victims of extreme sexual violence of  one form or another.

Praise God that there is "room in the inn" for each of these precious ones.

I see Jesus in their faces.

And the best Christmas gift of all is the honor of welcoming them and knowing that this Christmas, they will be in a safe place.
