A Father/Un Padre
June is the month to celebrate Fathers… Last month we shared about the importance of mothers in our lives, including the Madre Patria we’re moving into this month. Now we share how important are Fathers. Including, Our Father which art in Heaven…
A lot was said last month in our churches, our conversations, and the media, of how brave, courageous, and entrepreneurs are our mothers, and they are! Yet, for the most part, we missed on a simple detail… God instituted the family to include a father AND a mother. Even in today’s scientific world, for in-vitro fertilization, there needs to be a male and female element to make the complete combination of a human being. So, we recognize the importance of the father figure; but not only for procreation and without minimizing the enormous achievements of mothers raising their children in harsh circumstances. Let us reconsider God’s plan for fathers.
A father who follows God’s lead and instruction is a father that gives a better example to his children, so that they can better understand the Father in the Trinity. One in tune with the Father, leads his children to Jesus as Lord and Savior. One who seeks His wisdom and guidance, loves his wife as He loves His church and gave Himself for her; hence providing a better model to follow for the children as they grow.
Exodus 20:12, Proverbs 23:22, Ephesians 6:1-3, and Colossians 3:20 all talk about parents or father AND mother. In God’s plan, to have balance and harmony, there needs to be a father and a mother. Yet, Matthew 19:1-9 explains clearly why even from Jesus’ time, and from Moses’ time, things got messed up.
There are examples of abandonment, on the part of the father and of the mother, unfortunately to admit. At times abandonment comes by natural causes, death; at times by other circumstances, single parenting, separation, or divorce. Harder for children that get confused and transfer their hurt with their earthly parents to their heavenly Father. Psalm 27:10 states: “Even if my father and mother should desert me, you will take care of me.”
“Our Father that is in heaven, your Name is holy. Your kingdom will come, and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive our sins, as we also have to forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
We’re moving to Valencia, Spain this month, we’ll face many different family settings within Spanish and migrant families. We pray to be sensitive to their needs as we boldly proclaim of our Father and His plan for Salvation through His son Jesus, in the power of His Holy Spirit. Salvation is the only gift with eternal value we can share. We pray others can see Him shining through us, as individuals and as family, so much to want to have a personal relationship with the Way, the Truth, and the Life, Jesus Christ, our Lord! May we show them that our Father cares for them even if father and mother are gone, not only in Spain but also in Haiti, Chile, China, Baja California, Thailand, and so many places that are experiencing turmoil and are in desperate need for His hope.
Our Father that is in Heaven is going with us to Spain. You too are going with us through your prayers, your encouragement, and your financial support; all of which make our partnership in missions possible. As we approach our 10th anniversary with the mission society in July, we are grateful for these years of ministry and our bonds of love. BTW, blessed Father’s Day!

Junio es el mes para celebrar a los Padres… Ya hablamos de la importancia de las madres, incluyendo la Madre Patria a la que nos mudamos este mes. Ahora reflexionemos de la importancia de los padres. Incluyendo al Padre Nuestro que está en los cielos…
Mucho se dijo en las Iglesias, conversaciones y los medios de cuán valientes, atrevidas y emprendedoras son las madres; ¡lo son! Pero en general obviamos un simple detalle… Dios instituyó la familia con un padre Y una madre. Aun en el mundo científico de hoy, en la fertilización asistida se necesita un elemento masculino y otro femenino para hacer la combinación completa de un ser humano. Así que, reconocemos la importancia de los padres, pero no sólo en la procreación ni a costa de minimizar la importancia de las madres y sus logros criando en circunstancias hostiles. Reconsideremos el plan de Dios para los padres.
Un padre que sigue las directrices y guía de Dios es un padre que da buen ejemplo a sus hijos e hijas para que puedan entender mejor al Padre en la Trinidad. Uno afín con el Padre, guía a sus hijos e hijas a Jesús como Señor y Salvador. Uno que busca Su sabiduría e instrucción, ama a su esposa como El ama a Su iglesia y se entregó por ella; así dando un mejor ejemplo a seguir a sus hijos en crecimiento.
Éxodo 20:12, Proverbios 23:22, Efesios 6:1-3 y Colosenses 3:20 nos hablan de padres o padre Y madre. En el plan de Dios, para que encontrar balance y armonía debe haber un padre y una madre. Pero, Mateo 19:1-9 nos explica claramente por qué en los tiempos de Jesús y desde los de Moisés, todo se echó a perder.
Hay ejemplos de abandono, tanto del padre como de la madre, muy triste admitirlo. En ocasiones por causa natural: la muerte; otras por variadas circunstancias: criar sin cónyuge, tras separación o divorcio. Muy difícil para esta prole que se confunde y transfieren sus sentimientos hostiles de sus padres terrenales a Su padre celestial. Salmos 27:10 dice: “Aunque mi padre y madre me dejen, con todo Jehová me recogerá.”
“Padre Nuestro que estás en los cielos… Tu nombre es santo. Tu reino se acerca y Tu voluntad ha de hacerse en la tierra como en el cielo. Nos brindas el pan diario. Perdonas nuestros pecados como nosotros debemos perdonar a quienes pecan contra nosotros. No nos metas en tentación; líbranos del malo. Tuyo es el reino y el poder y la gloria por siempre. Amén.”
Nos mudamos a Valencia, España este mes; encontraremos variedad de combinaciones familiares entre españoles y migrantes. Queremos ser sensibles a sus necesidades mientras proclamamos con denuedo de nuestro Padre y Su plan de salvación a través de Su hijo y en el poder de Su Espíritu Santo. La salvación es el único regalo de valor eternal que podemos compartir. Que otras personas Le vean brillar a través nuestro, como personas y como familia, y deseen una relación personal con el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida, ¡Jesucristo, nuestro Señor! Que podamos mostrarles que hay un Padre que cuida de ellos aunque padre y madre ya no estén, no sólo en España sino en Haití, Chile, China, Baja California, Tailandia, y tantos lugares en necesidad de Su esperanza.
El Padre Nuestro que está en los cielos nos lleva a España. Vamos juntos con sus oraciones, aliento y apoyo económico que hacen posible nuestra coparticipación en misión. Cumpliremos 10 años de servicio en julio y estamos agradecidos por este tiempo y nuestros lazos de amor. Por cierto, ¡Feliz día de los Padres!
