Are you looking for a mission project that your Vacation Bible School can support?  We’ve got three kid friendly projects we think you’ll love.

Kids for Kids in Haiti - $50
Wouldn’t your VBS kids get excited about raising money to buy a goat?  This project is all about helping kids (children) raise kids (baby goats)!  Haitian churches have formed ‘goat committees’ to select eligible families to receive a goat to raise.  The Haitian kids will be responsible for feeding and caring for their ‘kid’.  The children must agree to give the first two female baby goats back to the committee who pass the new kids along to other families.

$50 will provide a family in Haiti with a baby goat to raise.  After the goat produces offspring, it will be sold, giving the Haitian family enough money to pay for the cost of one child to go to school for one semester.

Idea: Create a display for the project by drawing a life size picture of a baby goat.  As money comes in, let the kids color each leg to show how much of the goat they can help buy.

School Uniforms in Mexico - $75
Located in one of the poorest and most dangerous areas in Tijuana, Mexico, the Centro Pedagogico Didaque is a Baptist grade school.  They focus on reaching barrio children with disabilities so they can go to school.  School helps these disabled kids gain dignity and they’re better prepared to break the cycle of poverty.  For many of these children, school is the first time they experience God’s love.

$75 will pay for the required school uniform and books for one student for one year.

Idea: Create a display for the project by tracing the outline of one of the kids.  Draw a uniform on the outline and then color in the pants/skirt and jacket as funds are received.

HOPE for Congo - $100
What can a high school student do?  A LOT!  In 2007, Cassie Clemmer, is a high school age missionary kid living in the Democratic Republic of Congo, founded HOPE – Helping Our Partners in Education.  Since 2007, Cassie has partnered with churches in the USA to provide over 400 Congolese students at Sona Bata with backpacks, school books, pens, pencils and paper.

Sona Bata is a former mission station in the Bas province of Congo.  Today the school has 600 students in grades 1 – 6.  Teachers have no text books, but rely on handwritten notes they kept from when they were students.  Most of the children sit on bricks or wooden benches. Rulers, maps and globes are a luxury in these classrooms.

$100 will provide 10 textbooks for the teachers at the school.
$250 will provide scholarships for 4 needy students.
$500 will cover the cost of shipping more than 50 cases of donated school supplies from the US over to Congo.

Idea: Create a display for the project using a backpack.  As funds are received, add items to the backpack like pens, crayons, paper, a ruler, scissors, pencils and books.
