“Now I understand why God brought me here,” the young woman exclaimed, eyes brimming with tears. “I know the Lord is calling me to mission service, but I don’t where or how.” Flávia was one of the many young adults who participated in a national conference to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of JAMI, the mission arm of the National Baptist Convention of Brazil. She is part of a new wave of young people on fire to share the love of God in practical ways in a hurting world. They represent the next generation of missionaries who are dedicating themselves to ministry in Africa, Europe, Asia, and North and South America. By the end of the mission conference, Flávia had a much clearer idea of the next steps in her journey.

We encouraged Flávia to complete her university education (she is working on a nursing degree) and then enroll in the cross-cultural mission training program where we serve as pastoral counselors and professors. It is exciting to see that God is raising up mission workers from every continent to share the transforming power of the good news of Jesus that responds to human need at every level: hunger, illiteracy, lack of health care services and lack of hope.

Our current students are coming into the home stretch of their 7-month intensive training program. Please pray for an extra measure of strength and endurance as they complete their coursework and prepare for internships on four continents. Pray for us as we prepare to teach an intensive course called “Missão Integral” (Holistic Mission). We’ll tell you more about that course in another prayer letter.

Thank you for partnering with us in this ministry!
