October marks our first ordination anniversary which took place in Caguas, Puerto Rico. You can share some memories going to http://www.truthcasting.com/player.aspx#showSermon=14934 (in Spanish). In hindsight, we can now understand more fully, some reasons and some why’s of our being ordained…

  Esther 4:14 reads: “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?"

  And 2 Corinthians 12:8-10 reads: “Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

  Being in the mission field, whether new or known, we face constant adjustments as we discover and discern God’s plans for ourselves and those around us each day. The Lord calls us to be faithful and obedient to His voice, like Esther, and should we disobey, He always finds a way. More often than not, we identify with Paul as he and we have to rely on the Lord who says “My grace is sufficient for you”. We are indeed called to live lives of grace, mixed with weakness and service.

  After almost four months in Spain, we have visited several churches, shared the Word with them and at the same time tried to immerse ourselves in the day to day life of those around us, be that a migrant like “S” who we met at the entrance of a supermarket looking for income to support her family, or a lamp store’s owner like “R” who in the midst of so much light in her store is in search of the Light, or even a hairdresser like “V” who being a fervent Catholic is open to sharing other views and learning more from the Bible.

  The needs around us are vast and overwhelming at times. Rumanian Gypsies have been expelled recently from France. The migrants around us are from so many countries, all of them in need for a word of “relief and deliverance”. Many nationals also need that same word as unemployment continues to deprive them of their comforts and earthly security.

  We cannot remain silent at this time. We have a word of hope, relief and deliverance. The Lord continues to affirm to each of us: “My grace is sufficient for you.” We do not need to know it all, be able to do it all, or solve it all. We only need to be faithful and obedient, we only need to rely on His grace, and we only need to reflect the face, the heart, and the love of Jesus.

  As we celebrate a year from our ordination, we continue to say “when I am weak, then I am strong” because we are totally dependent on the One to whom we entrust our lives and ministry, affirmed through our ordination. We are blessed to be in Spain accompanied by you in our network of friends and family who pray for us, encourage our journey, and provide for our continued ministries. We are blessed to know that in such a time as this, God allows us to share His Good News and allows us to grow in the process of striving to live lives where we may be found faithful.

  Therefore, we have immersed ourselves as itinerant pastors to several churches in the Valencian Community: Almussafes, Puerto de Sagunto, Segorbe, Vall D' Uixo, and Mislata. We will be rotating among these with their local leadership and intercalating others outside the area. We will also begin in October with workshops and training with some of the local lay pastors and leaders. Your prayers, as we move around each Sunday and on weekdays, are appreciated. We also covet your prayers for UEBE's Annual Sessions on October 14-17, focusing on 1 Chronicles 29:14b. May we recognize that truly, the Lord is Lord of all.

Octubre marca el primer aniversario de nuestra ordenación en Caguas, Puerto Rico. Pueden compartir y recordar la ocasión en http://www.truthcasting.com/player.aspx#showSermon=14934. El tiempo y las experiencias han afirmado mejor algunas razones y motivos por los que somos ordenados…

  Ester 4:14 dice: “Porque si callas absolutamente en este tiempo, respiro y liberación vendrá de alguna otra parte para los judíos; mas tú y la casa de tu padre pereceréis. ¿Y quién sabe si para esta hora has llegado al reino?”

  Y en 2 Corintios 12:8-10 leemos: “…respecto a lo cual tres veces he rogado al Señor, que lo quite de mí. Y me ha dicho: ‘Bástate mi gracia; porque mi poder se perfecciona en la debilidad.’ Por tanto, de buena gana me gloriaré más bien en mis debilidades, para que repose sobre mí el poder de Cristo. Por lo cual, por amor a Cristo me gozo en las debilidades, en afrentas, en necesidades, en persecuciones, en angustias; porque cuando soy débil, entonces soy fuerte.”

  Al estar en el campo misionero, sea nuevo o conocido, nos enfrentamos a ajustes continuos al descubrir y discernir a diario los planes de Dios para nosotros y quienes nos rodean. Dios nos llama a ser fieles y obedientes a Su voz, como Ester, y si desobedecemos, El siempre se las ingenia. Con frecuencia, nos identificamos con Pablo pues él y nosotros dependemos del Señor quien dice “Bástate mi gracia”. Somos llamados a vivir vidas llenas de Su gracia, entremezclada con nuestra debilidad y a Su servicio.

  Luego de casi cuatro meses en España, hemos visitado Iglesias, compartido La Palabra con ellas y a la vez nos sumergimos en el día a día de quienes nos rodean, tales como una migrante como “S” que conocimos en la entrada de un supermercado buscando sustento para su familia, o como la dueña de la tienda de lámparas, “R”, quien en medio de tanta luz artificial en su tienda busca La Luz verdadera, o como el peluquero “V” que siendo un católico practicante está abierto a conocer más y aprender de la Biblia.

  Las necesidades a nuestro alrededor son muchas y abrumadoras. Los gitanos rumanos han sido expulsados recientemente de Francia. Los migrantes aquí provienen de muchos países, todos necesitan una palabra de “respiro y liberación”. Muchos nacionales también necesitan esa palabra para enfrentar el creciente desempleo que les priva de sus comodidades y seguridad terrenal.

  No nos podemos callar en este tiempo. ¡Tenemos una palabra de esperanza, respiro y liberación! El Señor nos sigue afirmando a cada uno de nosotros: “Bástate mi gracia.” No tenemos que saberlo todo ni hacerlo todo ni resolverlo todo. Sólo tenemos que ser fieles y obedientes; sólo tenemos que depender de Su gracia; sólo tenemos que reflejar el rostro, el corazón y el amor de Jesús.

  Al celebrar el primer aniversario de nuestra ordenación, seguimos afirmando que “cuando soy débil, entonces soy fuerte” porque dependemos de Aquel a quien confiamos nuestras vidas y ministerios, afirmados a través de la ordenación. Es una bendición estar en España acompañados de cada uno en nuestra red de familiares y amistades quienes oran por nosotros, nos animan en nuestras aventuras y proveen lo necesario para nuestro ministerio. Somos bendecidos con la certeza que para esta hora, Dios sigue usándonos al compartir Sus Buenas Nuevas y nos permite crecer al buscar vivir vidas donde nos puedan hallar fieles.

  Por ello, nos hemos sumergido como pastores itinerantes en varias iglesias de la Comunidad Valenciana: Almussafes, Puerto de Sagunto, Segorbe, Vall D' Uixó y Mislata. Nos rotaremos entre estas congregaciones y sus líderes así como fuera del área. Comenzaremos en octubre unos talleres y cursos de preparación al liderato pastoral y laico. Apreciamos sus oraciones cada vez que nos movilizamos en domingo y en la semana. También apreciamos sus oraciones por la asamblea anual de la UEBE del 14-17 de octubre, enfocados en 1 Crónicas 29:14b. Que verdaderamente reconozcamos que El es el dueño de todo.
