Ayer estuvimos (un grupo de la iglesia) en Lorca. Fuimos a llevarles todo lo que habíamos recogido. La verdad es que hubo una respuesta súper buena por parte de todos y llevamos 2 coches grandes y 1 furgoneta llenos. Os mando algunas fotos de lo que hicimos y también de cómo sigue Lorca.
     La ciudad ha cambiado, desde el sábado pasado que estuvimos, ya no quedan casi cascotes (escombros) por las calles, pero hay muchísimas calles cortadas por riesgo o peligro de derrumbes. El barrio de La Viña, por dónde estuvimos, nos dijeron las mujeres de allí que es un barrio fantasma, por la noche. La mayoría de comercios permanecen cerrados y se pueden ver oficinas destrozadas.
     Los creyentes de allí están profundamente agradecidos por todo lo que les llevamos y por múltiples muestras de cariño y amor que están recibiendo de tanta gente y me dijeron (infinitas veces) que os transmitiera a todos su gratitud.
     Ahora mismo las necesidades más básicas que tienen es de ropa de hogar: sábanas, toallas, paños de cocina, etc. y de alimentos no perecederos. También de utensilios de usar y tirar (desechables). El problema es que muchos de los que se han tenido que ir de sus casas pensaban que podrían entrar a sacar la mayoría de sus cosas pero no ha sido así y hay quienes están casi con lo puesto, y encima están viviendo en casa de alguien que les ha alojado pero con situaciones difíciles ya que algunos (como tantos en España) están y estaban en el paro (el desempleo).
     Para colmo ayer mismo, una familia allí, estaban ... indignados porque no pueden estar en su casa (aunque tienen punto verde, está llena de grietas, con varias paredes para tirar), ella ha perdido su trabajo, el de baja (desempleado), han ido al banco para que les paren (suspendan) por un mes o dos la hipoteca y les han dicho que no, y encima les han dado el presupuesto de la reconstrucción y es de 20.000 Euros (aprox. US$28,400 al cambio del día) que les dicen que ellos tienen que pagarlo primero y luego (no se sabe cuándo) se lo pagará el seguro... Estaban muy mal... Y así es una historia familiar detrás de otra. Oremos para que Dios les de fuerzas en estos momentos tan difíciles y sobre todo que las autoridades tomen conciencia de estos problemas económicos familiares y puedan ayudarles.
     Los puntos de las casas siguen cambiando de color (verde habitable, amarillo hay peligro, rojo no es segura), porque siguen habiendo movimientos por las noches y además los edificios que se van cayendo o demoliendo afectan a los de su entorno. Los que tienen punto verde, pero están al lado de los de punto rojo, también están desalojados porque se les puede caer el edificio encima (vimos así bastantes casos). Así que como os decía, la situación es complicada y va para largo.
     Os pido, os ruego, que no nos olvidemos de ellos. Sé que ahora es casi imposible, pero van a seguir necesitando nuestra ayuda, amor y solidaridad también dentro de 3, 6 y 12 meses. España, y los creyentes de todo el mundo somos un pueblo unido y sensible a estas catástrofes y seguro que seguiremos a su lado.
     Si queréis alguna cosa en concreto o lo que sea no dudéis en escribirme. Yo, en la medida que pueda os seguiré informando y transmitiéndoles a ellos vuestros correos. Para los de Valencia: el martes por la tarde pasaré por Quart y recogeré todo lo que queráis llevar allí para el miércoles llevárselo a Lorca junto con Mayra Giovanetti (nuestra misionera).

Nota de los BGs: Gracias por los correos y la generosidad con la que han respondido a la necesidad en Lorca. Ante la saturación globalizada, cada muestra de amor es inmensamente agradecida. Ya les informaremos al regresar de Lorca; nuestros hermanos y nuestras hermanas nos seguirán necesitando.

Yesterday we went with a group from Church to Lorca. We went to deliver what we had gathered. The response was overflowing and we had two big cars and a minivan full of goods. Attached are some pics of what we did and how Lorca looks now.
     The town has changed from last Saturday when we went; there isn’t as much rubble in the streets, but there are plenty streets with interrupted transit due to the risk of buildings collapsing. In La Viña neighborhood, where we visited, as told by the women, is a ghost town at night. Most of the stores are closed and many offices are destroyed.
     Believers in Lorca are infinitely grateful for all we took for them and the many expressions of love and care they are receiving from so many people, and asked (infinite times) to share with you their gratitude.
     Their basic needs right now are household goods: sheets, towels, kitchen towels, etc., and non-perishable food. They also need disposable plates, cups, and silverware. The problem is that most of those who have had to leave their houses thought they could go back to get their belongings, but that hasn’t been so and they are basically with what they had on; and most of them are staying with someone else who has offered their hospitality but is in a difficult situation like them (and as most in Spain) becoming, or already being, unemployed.
     To top that off, a family there, was … upset, as they cannot go back to their house (though they have a green dot even when it is full of cracks and several walls need to be demolished—green means safe, yellow means at risk, and red means not safe), she has lost her job, he is unemployed, they went to the bank to ask for delayed payment on their mortgage for one or two months and they have been denied. Moreover, they received the estimate of the repairs and it will be 20.000 Euros (approx. US$28,400 at today’s currency exchange) that they are told will need to pay first and later (who knows when) they will be reimbursed by the insurance... They were very disappointed... And that is the story of one family after the other. Let us pray that God will give them strength for these difficult times, and that authorities will be sensitive to help these families with financial hardships.
     The dots in the houses continue to change colors, as there continues to be tremors at night and surrounding buildings continue to fall or are being demolished affecting those close by. Those with green dots, next to those with red dots, are also empty as the buildings can collapse into the others (we saw many of those cases). So, as I’ve been trying to explain, the situation is complicated and is going to last quite a while.
     I ask, I beseech, I beg you, not to forget these. It seems impossible, but they will need our help, love, and solidarity even in the next 3, 6, and 12 months. Spain and believers around the world, is a people, united and sensitive to these catastrophes and we will surely be by their side.

For those in Valencia: on Tuesday I will go to Quart to collect what you bring in and take it to Lorca on Wednesday with Mayra Giovanetti (our missionary).
