Welton Carlos is 15 years old. He could be just another boy waiting to be a soccer player which is very common here in Brazil, however what he desires is to be a Pastor. By the time Welton got here he could not read or write. By talking to him he said his inspiration was Pastor Derli and he wanted to preach like him some day. Welton learned how to read and write at the age of 14 in our school and Pastor Derli gave him a chance to preach, and that was a tremendous blessing! By speaking to him I found out his dad used to hit him and his brothers very hard, almost every day. I asked if he dislikes his father for that, he said “Jesus taught me how to love, forgive and forget, I love my Dad, and I understand”.

I asked, if he could change something that happened with him in the past, what would it be? And he said “I would not change a thing, all of it was important to make me who I am today.” His Portuguese is nowhere near to polished, however the impact of his words are overwhelming and covered by the Holy Spirit. 

I asked how he sees his life 5 years from now, and he said “I don’t know and I don’t care. I will go wherever God wants me and do whatever his plans are for me”
