One-size… does not always fit all… In theological education this phrase is descriptive and also the reason for seeking to provide more than one option to the lay and pastoral leadership in the churches. We have been able to meet many “talmidim” (students) in various settings, all eager to learn and wanting more…

Madrid—STUEBE, now FTUEBE
The Seminary in Alcobendas (Madrid) is now UEBE’s Faculty of Theology, providing their students recognition beyond Christian circles. They are also providing different degrees programs as well as studying options. Their more than 20 students continue to strive to learn from the Word to apply it in their lives as well as the Ministries God calls them to in their communities and congregations. The Faculty is led by Dr. Julio Díaz Piñeiro and Dr. David Dixon with a faculty that includes professors such as our dear colleague in mission, Dr. Samuel Escobar.

Dénia—AULA XXI
For those lay and pastoral leaders who cannot dedicate three years or more studying in Alcobendas, there are various options in the regions. Some of them are called CET (Centro de Estudios Teológicos—Centers for Theological Studies). The Valencian Community has its own version within the Aula XXI program one full Saturday a month for 9 months a year. Different teachers share different subjects and we share “The Life of Jesus” which is catching students’ attention. The best reward for a teacher is to see students wanting to learn more and asking questions. We pray for these who are coming (many were with us last year in the lay/pastoral leadership trainings and workshops), and for clarity in each session.

Xàtiva—CHURCH LEADERSHIP TRAINING
Can you imagine a whole congregation studying the Word one Saturday a month for a whole day? That is what the new leadership in Xàtiva decided needed to happen and recruited a team of teachers for each subject where we share “New Testament Synopsis”. From the youngest to the most mature, all are welcome to come and learn. What a delight to see their faces light up as known lessons are brought back to life in a new or different perspective!

Valencia—EBEVA
All of the above are mainly within the Baptist family. In Valencia, for almost 30 years now, there is the Estudios Bíblicos Evangélicos de Valencia (Evangelical Biblical Studies of Valencia). We have been invited by Pastor Eduardo Delás and don Samuel Escobar to share a course on “Isaiah and an Introduction to the Prophets” beginning mid-November till mid-February every Monday. Missionary colleague Stan Slade was recently with us and was able to meet them and share in one of their classes.

MEM retreat
And if you cannot dedicate a 3-4 years’ period, or a Saturday a month for 9 months a year, or every Monday per quarter for 9 months a year to study the Word in any of these options, the Missions and Evangelism Ministry (MEM) has a retreat each year before annual session where you can dedicate almost two complete days to study the Word with many fellow servants. This year, Stan Slade was the guest Bible teacher and we all enjoyed his sharing practical lessons on how to study the Word.

As you can see, one-size does not always fit all, but the Word is always at the center of these studies. As we study around the Word, we seek to infuse in those we can impact to also live, proclaim, and be transformed by the Word as the Spirit leads. We are grateful to accompany and learn with these that the Lord blessing us to walk with. Your prayers and loving support are making it possible to be ourselves His “talmidim” in these lands with His people…

La Facultad provee varios programas de grado y opciones de estudio. Sus más de 20 estudiantes continúan buscando aprender de la Palabra al aplicarla a sus vidas y los ministerios a los que Dios les llama en sus comunidades y congregaciones. La Facultad es dirigida por el Dr. Julio Díaz Piñeiro y el Dr. David Dixon junto a una facultad que incluye profesores como nuestro querido colega en misión, Dr. Samuel Escobar.

Dénia—AULA XXI
Para líderes laicos y pastorales que no pueden dedicar tres o más años a estudiar en Alcobendas, hay opciones regionales. Algunas se llaman CET (Centro de Estudios Teológicos). La Comunidad Valenciana tiene su versión dentro del programa Aula XXI, un sábado completo al mes por 9 meses al año. Diferentes maestros comparten diferentes asignaturas y al compartirles “La Vida de Jesús” vemos cómo captamos su atención. El mejor regalo para un maestro es ver a sus estudiantes queriendo aprender más y haciendo preguntas. Oramos por quienes llegan (muchas de ellas del Curso de Formación del año pasado) y por claridad al compartir cada sesión.

Xàtiva—CURSO DE LIDERAZGO
¿Te imaginas una congregación en su totalidad inmersa en el estudio de la Palabra un sábado completo al mes? Pues esto es lo que el nuevo liderato en Xàtiva decidió hacer y han reclutado un equipo de maestros para cada asignatura, permitiéndonos compartir la “Sinopsis del Nuevo Testamento”. Desde la persona más joven hasta la más madura, cada persona es bienvenida para llegar y aprender. ¡Qué delicia ver sus rostros iluminarse al repasar lecciones sabidas a la luz de nuevas o diferentes perspectivas!

Valencia—EBEVA
Todas las anteriores son mayormente entre la familia bautista. En Valencia, desde hace alrededor de 30 años, funciona el centro de Estudios Bíblicos Evangélicos de Valencia. El Pastor Eduardo Delás y don Samuel Escobar nos han invitado a compartir el curso de “Isaías e Introducción a los Profetas” cada lunes a partir de mediados de noviembre a mediados de febrero. Nuestro colega en misión Stan Slade estuvo recientemente con nosotros y tuvo la oportunidad de compartir con participantes de EBEVA en una de las sesiones.

Retiro del MEM
Si no puedes dedicar un periodo de 3-4 años, o un sábado al mes por 9 meses al año, o cada lunes por trimestre por 9 meses del año para estudiar la Palabra en alguna de estas opciones, el MEM (Ministerio de Evangelismo y Misiones) tiene un retiro cada año antes de la asamblea anual de la UEBE donde dedicamos casi dos días completos al estudio de la Palabra con consiervos y consiervas. Este año, Stan Slade fue el maestro bíblico invitado y cada participante disfrutó las herramientas prácticas de estudio bíblico que nos compartió.

Como verás, la talla única no siempre sirve, pero la Palabra siempre está al centro de estos estudios. Al estudiar alrededor de la Palabra, buscamos infundir en quienes podemos impactar que también vivan, proclamen y sean transformados por la Palabra según nos guía el Espíritu. Estamos agradecidos al poder acompañar y aprender con estas personas que Dios nos bendice al caminar con ellas. Tus oraciones y apoyo amoroso hacen posible que también seamos Sus “talmidim” en estas tierras con Su pueblo…
