¡Bendecido Año Nuevo 2012! Nos emociona entrar  a otro año en el que sabemos que Dios nos guiará y un año donde enfrentamos desafíos en varias áreas. Al principio de año nos trazamos desafíos y compartimos algunos.
     Hemos hablado de la situación en Lorca, especialmente tras sus terremotos del pasado 11 de mayo de 2011. La IEB Lorca y El Buen Pastor, su iglesia hermana, continúan luchando por reconstruir sus templos. En noviembre compartimos la acción de gracias por sus ofrendas a una Gran Hora para Compartir que fue importante para poder arreglar su local arrendado (El Buen Pastor) y acondicionar su sótano como lugar de culto (IEB Lorca), pero la IEB Lorca sigue necesitando recursos para reconstruir su nave principal que iban a inaugurar el pasado septiembre, planes que los terremotos interrumpieron. Además, hay familias en la comunidad y la iglesia que siguen necesitando para sus viviendas y necesidades diarias. Tu generosidad a OGHS-Spain Relief seguirá apoyando estos esfuerzos.
     La IEB Lorca ha servido por las últimas dos décadas a través de la Casa de Acogida El Buen Camino, un ministerio especial de acción social para víctimas de violencia de género, adicción a drogas y otros problemas. Muchas han recobrado su autoestima y valores espirituales gracias a los programas que se ofrecen en la casa. Estas mujeres viven en riesgo de exclusión social. Gracias a talleres ocupacionales, mujeres como Juana García-Pianello adquieren destrezas socio-ocupacionales necesarias para trabajar u obtener una educación. Los costos incluyen materiales para los talleres y honorarios de monitoras. La Casa de Acogida también incurre diariamente en costos de vivienda y alimentación, efectos personales, medicamentos, etc. por residente. Actualmente sirven a 5 mujeres. De tener recursos adicionales, podrían servir a un máximo de 15. Ambos proyectos, Women’s Shelter Occupational Training in Spain y Women’s Shelter Living Allowance in Spain aparecen en www.internationalministries.org bajo “Projects”. Tu generosidad aumenta las posibilidades de rehabilitación y reinserción a la vida social y laboral de las residentes y las remueve del riesgo de exclusión social.
     Para servir al máximo de 15 mujeres, necesitan otra casa. Nuestra ABWM de Indiana ha adoptado la Casa de Acogida en su Proyecto Estatal 2012. La meta es recaudar $25,000 para ayudar en la compra de una casa prefabricada en madera para el terreno de su actual vivienda. Nuestra querida MPT, Cori Catellier, de la PIB Greenwood (Indianapolis, IN), preside este proyecto. Oramos que la brecha, de al menos $18,500 hasta el total necesario, sea cubierta por personas más allá del círculo en Indiana y Kentucky que nos tiendan la mano. Estamos agradecidos por cada persona que se pone en la brecha para romper las cadenas y detener el dolor de ellas, restaurando la dignidad, integridad y valor a estas mujeres que han sido despreciadas, usadas y esclavizadas.
     Al hacerlo, recuerda también a cada misionero y misionera que depende cada día de la provisión de Dios a través de Su pueblo para servir alrededor del mundo. Blessed New Year 2012!  We are excited to enter into a year where we know the Lord will continue to guide us and a year where we face challenges on many fronts. At the beginning of each year we set resolutions and here are some we’d like to share.
     We have been talking about the situation in Lorca, especially after they experienced the earthquakes last year on May 11, 2011. The FBC Lorca and The Good Shepherd, their sister church, continue to struggle with the reconstruction of their sanctuaries. In November we shared thanksgiving for the gifts through One Great Hour of Sharing which were key in their ability to fix part of their rental (The Good Shepherd) and their basement to have a place of worship (FBC Lorca), but the FBC continues to need resources to work on the reconstruction of their main sanctuary which they had planned to inaugurate last September, plans thwarted by the earthquakes. Plus, families in the congregation and the community continue to have needs for their housing and daily necessities. Your generosity to OGHS-Spain Relief will continue to assist them in this regard.
     FBC Lorca has served for the past two decades through The Good Way Women’s Shelter, a special social action ministry for victims of domestic violence, drug addiction and other problems. Many have regained their self esteem and spiritual values thanks to the programs offered at the shelter. These women are at risk for social exclusion. Thanks to occupational workshops, women like Juana García-Pianello learn the social-occupational skills necessary to work or get an education. Associated expenses include workshop materials and leader’s honorariums. The Women’s Shelter expenses also include room and board, toiletries, medicines, etc. per resident on a daily basis. They are currently serving 5 residents. With additional funding, they could serve a maximum of 15. Both projects, Women’s Shelter Occupational Training in Spain and Women’s Shelter Living Allowance in Spain are listed at www.internationalministries.org under “Projects”. Your generosity to these will improve the overall rehabilitation and reinsertion to social and work life of the residents and will remove their risk for social exclusion.
     In order to serve at their maximum capacity of 15 women, they need another house. The ABWM of Indiana has graciously adopted the Women’s Shelter as the 2012 State Project. The goal is to raise $25,000 toward the purchase of a modular home to be built in the lot of their current location. Our dear MPTer, Cori Catellier, from FBC Greenwood (Indianapolis, IN), chairs this project. There is a gap, of at least $18,500 for the total needed, that we pray others outside the Indiana and Kentucky circles will help cover. We are grateful to each person that steps in with compassion to break the chains and stop the pain of these, restoring dignity, integrity, and worth to these who have been despised, used, and enslaved.
     As we do so, remember each missionary man and woman that depends on God’s daily provision through His people to serve around the World.
