¡Abril nos trae la Semana Santa este año! Es el tiempo del año que recordamos y reflexionamos en la semana de pasión de Jesús con Sus discípulos, Su muerte y Su resurrección.
    Mientras meditamos en el sacrificio de Jesús para proveernos de vida eterna con El, nos preparamos para irnos de España. Sí, a veces Sus caminos nos parecen borrosos o confusos. Pero sabemos que Dios ha permitido que nos denieguen la extensión de los permisos de residencia aunque no sepamos el por qué. Sabemos que Dios está en control y Sus planes para nuestras vidas se cumplirán en medio de estas circunstancias.
    Irnos de España tras 22 meses de servicio no es nada fácil. Tenemos amigos y familias que no sabemos cuándo volveremos a ver; tenemos proyectos en progreso; tenemos planes. Pero, algo importante en la vida misionera (y de cada cristian@) es ser obedientes aunque, según nosotros, las cosas no tengan sentido.
    Tenemos en Jesús el mejor ejemplo: ganaba clímax, lo seguían y Sus milagros bendecían a muchos. ¿Morir? ¿Cuando todo iba tan bien en Su ministerio? ¿Qué sentido tenía? Por lo menos para El y los discípulos que estaba entrenando, mínimo. Su oración en el Jardín es un ejemplo de sumisión a nuestro Padre celestial, sea que entendamos, consintamos, nos haga sentido o no…
    El Salmo 16 nos alienta a confiar en el Señor y refugiarnos en El durante esta transición. El nos lleva de Su diestra y nos llena de gozo en Su presencia. Hasta el último minuto, en Lorca, dos de las tres mujeres que hicieron pública profesión de fe son de la Casa de Acogida que estamos apoyando y oramos por los recursos para una casa prefabricada en madera. Dios sigue trabajando en este ministerio y trayendo a muchas personas a Su cruz con restauración a vida abundante y ríos de gozo que fluyen solo por Su abundante amor mostrado en aquella semana cuando Jesús nos mostró Su camino de obediencia, sumisión y sacrificio.
    Al llegar a EE.UU., donde seguiremos buscando Su voluntad y camino para nuestras vidas, agradecemos tu compañía con tus oraciones, aliento y ofrendas que nos permiten seguir sirviendo allí donde El nos va llevando. Tu apoyo al ministerio en Lorca, mientras nuestros próximos pasos son decididos, es de gran estímulo. Te tendremos al día según Dios nos revele Sus caminos y lo que espera de nosotros en adelante…
    Sí, Jesús sufrió y murió. Pero más importante, Jesús resucitó, mostrándonos Su camino a la eternidad con El… Por ello podemos confiar que cumplirá Sus planes con nosotros. Nos sentimos bendecidos de poder servirle, confiando en El aunque haya cambios en nuestro camino… Sí, en Dios confiamos.

April brings us Holy Week this year! It is a time of the year when we remember and reflect on Jesus’ week of passion with His disciples, His death, and His resurrection.
    As we meditate on Jesus’ sacrifice to provide us eternal life with Him, we get ready to move out of Spain. Yes, sometimes His ways seem blurry or confusing. Yet, we are confident that our resident permits’ extension being denied is exactly what the Lord is allowing to happen, even when we do not know the reason. We know that God is in control and His plans for our lives are to be fulfilled in the midst of this turn of events.
    Leaving Spain after 22 months of service is not an easy task. We have new friends and family and we do not know when we will see them again. We have projects that are in progress. We have plans. Yet, an important part of missionary life (and of Christian life, for that matter) is to be obedient when things don’t necessarily make sense in our own point of view.
    We have in Jesus the best example. He was gaining momentum, people were following Him, and His miracles were blessing those who came to Him. Die? Was He supposed to die when things were going so well for His ministry? What sense did that make? At least to those around Him and to the disciples He was training, anyways? His prayer in the garden is our example of submission to our heavenly Father, whether we understand, agree, or make sense of it or not…
    Psalm 16 encourages us as we trust the Lord and take refuge in Him during this transition. He is holding us by His right hand and filling us with joy in His presence. Even as we served last in Lorca, two out of the three women who made commitments of faith were from the Women’s Shelter that you are supporting and for whom we are raising support for their prefab module wood house. God is working through this ministry and many are coming to His cross for restoration to abundant lives and overflowing rivers of joy that only come from His abundant love shown during that week; that week when Jesus showed us His ways of obedience, submission, and sacrifice.
    As we arrive in the States, where we’ll continue discerning His plans and ways for our lives, we are grateful you accompany us with your prayers, your encouragement, and your gifts that allow us to continue serving anywhere He sends us. Your continued support of the ministry in Lorca as our next steps are discerned, are an encouragement in itself. We will keep you posted as God reveals to us His ways and what He expects next from us…
    Yes, Jesus suffered and died. But, most importantly, Jesus rose again, showing us His way to eternal life with Him… Therefore we can trust His fulfilling His promises to us. We count it a blessing to be given the opportunity to serve Him, trusting Him when our ways get twitched. Yes, in God we trust.
