Dear Friends,

Light and Salt.  That's what we're called to be.  People who can effect change! People who can make a difference in this world!  Sometimes that change is subtle, sometimes it's radical!

With your prayers and financial support that keeps us on the field, we are making a radical change in the lives of a whole community!  Through the WellSpring of Faith and Hope Community School (WOFAH), the community of Kalikiliki has a means to help change the lives of its children through education.  The school is a beacon of light in the community.  The children attending get a meal when there is enough money to purchase food and we are in the process of getting uniforms to identify the children with the WOFAH school. We received a donation of 250 bags of cement from Lafarge Cement Zambia in March of this year.  This was just the kick-start, the boost we needed, to get the building project going.  Lafarge Worldwide is present in 63 countries as well as in Zambia.  Their donation as part of their social responsibility in the development of Zambian people’s welfare has played a major role in helping this community to educate and raise up leaders as well as train a future workforce!

LaFarge Cement and Second Baptist Church Germantown in Philadelphia (along with our friends at the Istanbul Community School in Turkey, and dear friends at Altrusa International/San Diego who see education as a means out of poverty) have played key roles in getting the construction of the WOFAH community school building off the ground.

The community members of Kalikiliki are actively involved in the building project.  We were hoping to finish the build by the end of April, but it looks like the end of June might be a more realistic timeframe.  With the help of a strong PTA who have put in lots of sweat equity, the school building is going up and will produce strong future leaders.

WOFAH does not just offer academic knowledge in its education program.  At WOFAH, through our faithful teachers and religious education classes, the good news of the love of God, and the saving and transforming power of Jesus Christ, is introduced. Bringing people to faith in Christ, changing lives through education, and empowering a community is how you are blessing the people of Zambia.

Proverbs 1:   1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: 2 To know wisdom and instruction, To discern the sayings of understanding, 3 To receive instruction in wise behavior, Righteousness, justice and equity; 4 To give prudence to the [a ]naive, To the youth knowledge and discretion, 5 A wise man will hear and increase in learning,  And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel,  6 To understand a proverb and a figure, The words of the wise and their riddles. 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction. Please note that we will be leaving Zambia for deputation in the U.S. in June, so send your regular mail letter correspondence starting May 15th to –
