How many programs do you know of that have the opportunity to share the gospel FIVE days a week?  Here at the Children’s home there is a program that brings twenty-five plus young men to the grounds daily.

Futbol, or soccer for you Americans, is a national pastime here and is a sure way to get boys young and old to hear the word of God.  Monday through Friday, boys between twelve and sixteen years old gather at the fence waiting for Dago to open the gate.  They come by means of walking, riding their bike or any way they can.

Promptly at four pm they begin warming up for the day’s training.  Jogging, stretching and practicing drills; all of it is worth it for the chance to put on a pair of cleats and play a game.  This gives the unique opportunity to share the gospel with young men who come from a variety of backgrounds. There is Carlos, Cristian and Eduardo and whether they are Catholic, non-believers or regular church goers they all come together for the love of the game and end up learning about Christ’s love.

Regularly there are around twenty-five boys attending, numbers vary based on the weather and a really nice day can draw a crowd of thirty-five.  The boys get the chance to practice teamwork, discipline and hard work all while receiving daily doses of the word of God from Pastor Dago and other men who participate. The boys also learn the value of a good attitude because a bad attitude means less playing time. It’s a ministry that gives the boys opportunities to ask questions in a no-pressure environment and to witness the wonderful things that God can do in your life.
