He is Alive
In Easter Sunday worship, the pastor asked the question,
"Where is Jesus today?" My
answer is, “He is alive everywhere, and His presence is with us all the
time."
We are back on the road, visiting churches as we were at the
beginning of this year, and He is with us.
If He were not alive, we would not see His presence all the time. We have seen two ladies at difference places
and at different times saying, “I want to go to church too”. “Therefore, go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy
Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end
of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20). He is
alive and His Holy Spirit is with His disciples to testify of His love and His
grace. That was why we have heard people
say, “I want to go to church too”.
We visited a church in Pennsylvania, an example of what we
call "a revival church." The
church had been a congregation of mostly senior brothers and sisters. Now it has three generations of families,
many young couples and children. We saw
their spirit of sacrifice as they support many missionaries. “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive
glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they
were created and have their being.” (Revelation 4:11) All is from His presence, His work and His
plan. In every church we visited, we received
love, care, encouragement, prayers and support.
The Lord is alive and is still commanding his disciples to follow. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind,” and “Love your neighbor as
yourself” (Matthew 22:37 & 39).
His physical presence is not here, but He sent the Holy
Spirit to be with us now. At a church
in Michigan, during fellowship time the Holy Spirit led us each to share his
conversion experience. Though each one
had a different story and each had come on a different path, we all spoke of
His saving grace. “To him who sits on
the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever
and ever!” (Revelation 5:13b) What a wonderful language of grace and life
we shared, and what a beautiful picture we saw as though we were in the kingdom
of God!
As missionaries, the primary purpose for our mission is to
testify “He is alive”. Jesus has saved
us from a life of sin and transformed our lives to be reconciled with Him. It is His love and His grace that we share
with others.
May His love and miracle today be part of your life!
