Hundreds of Baptists from the U.S. and around the world are making a historic pilgrimage to the country of Myanmar. The very special occasion is a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the arrival of Adoniram and Ann Judson in Burma (as Myanmar was called at that time) in July of 1813. The Judsons were among the first group of missionaries to be commissioned and sent from the U.S. Over time, God used their work to birth both the Baptist movement in Myanmar and the mission society now known as American Baptist International Ministries (IM).

More than 30,000 Christians from Myanmar and around the world are expected to attend, including several Baptist groups from the U.S:  AB Women’s Ministries, Central Seminary, Baptist Peace Fellowship and Baptist World Alliance. The group representing American Baptist Churches USA (ABCUSA) and IM includes IM Executive Director, Reid Trulson; ABCUSA General Secretary, Roy Medley; IM Missionaries, Steve and Nancy James; IM Director, Reginald Mills; IM Area Director, Stan Murray; ABCUSA President, Ruth Clark; and ABCUSA President-Elect, Don Ng.

You can follow this historic event on IM’s blog at http://www.internationalministries.org/read/51465-myanmar-200th-anniversary-celebration-tour and on IM's Facebook page (International Ministries - American Baptist).
