Dr. Yam Kho Pau, general secretary of the Myanmar Baptist Convention and an International Ministries partner, comments on the outcome of the November 15, 2015 election in Myanmar:

"We, all the Christians, particularly Baptist members and the majority of the population are celebrating incoming potential sociopolitical changes within Myanmar that may initiating to national reconciliation, peace, justice and rule of law in Myanmar society. Besides, we are expecting the emergence of genuine Democratic Federal Union, which is the dream of the people. Particularly, it is the ultimate dream of ethnic minority groups of Myanmar.

"As of November 15, the National League for Democracy (NLD), led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, won 255 seats in Pyithu Hluttaw and 135 seats in Amyotha Hluttaw. Therefore, the party has the total 390 seats in Pyidaungsu Hluttaw. The NLD won a total of 491 seats in the States/Regions constituency. Therefore, the NLD has a very sure opportunity to form a new government for the next five-year term.

"We have been praying for peaceful transition process in accordance with the national constitution. We believe the landslide victory of the NLD in the recent general election is the beginning of empowerment for the people and the symbol of revolution against dictatorship. It is also the demonstration of people whose freedom and human rights have been lost since several decades ago. We are also expecting the freedom of religion or the liberty of the religion and equal rights among all the citizens of Myanmar."
