One of my favorite Christmas carols is The Little Drummer Boy. True, not the most Biblically-based carol, but I love the sentiment.

Little baby, pa rum pa pum pum

I am a poor boy too, pa rum pa pum pum

I have no gift to bring, pa rum pa pum pum

That's fit to give our King, pa rum pa pum pum,

Rum pa pum pum, rum pa pum pum

Shall I play for You, pa rum pa pum pum

On my drum

I played my drum for Him, pa rum pa pum pum

I played my best for Him, pa rum pa pum pum,

Rum pa pum pum, rum pa pum pum

Then He smiled at me, pa rum pa pum pum

Me and my drum

Here the singer, recognizing he has no gift worthy to set before Jesus, instead offers to play his drum and, playing his best, earns the Lord's approval.

When I was in Zambia in September, I attended a church association camp meeting in a very rural part of the country. It is likely that many of the hundreds in attendance had never met a white person and children watched even my most mundane actions with keen interest. One little boy came to visit me each day. He did not speak English, and I did not speak his native Lala, but he giggled as he chased the light of a flashlight on the ground and as I playfully tagged him.

One day, wanting to give me a gift, he brought me two empty water bottles he found on the ground. I was touched by his gesture. At three years old, he had nothing fancy to offer, so he gave me the best that he could.

In order to be commissioned for international ministry, I need people to partner with the ministry to which God is calling me. Currently, 58% of the support goal has been committed.

The remainder of the goal can be reached through 15 commitments of $100/month and 22 commitments of $50/month. Is God calling you to partner with this ministry? Will you take a moment right now to ask Him? And if He is, will you give your best according to what He is calling you to do?

I am hoping for 15 new or increased commitments of support by January 1, 2016. Any amount you commit to giving will help in achieving the support goal. You can even give in honor or memory of a loved one or as a Christmas gift. This page provides information on how to give, including electronic and postal mail options. If you are unable to give financially or want to help in an additional way, click here for ideas on how, with little time commitment, you can advocate for this ministry by sharing your enthusiasm about it with others

Thank you for your consideration of this ministry and your partnership in God's work among the people of Zambia. May you be touched by God's grace this holiday season.

God’s blessings,

Kathy

Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
