Greetings from Azacualpa!

Today was our first full day of work. (The team arrived in Honduras on June 10th).  On Saturday we painted one of the bedrooms in the house where we stay and apparently did a good enough job to be able to continue. Today we painted another room in our house in the morning and then went out into the community to work at the house of local family in the afternoon. Their home is new and includes three interior rooms and a covered exterior space for cooking and access to water. We primed two of the interior rooms and plan to return tomorrow to paint. The family, a husband and wife, have a grown son whose activities are limited by the effects of polio. During the time we were at their home, the two of them spent much of their time caring for him, so it was especially fulfilling to be able to help them improve their home.

In addition to painting, we got to a do a few other things today.  Lizzy and Levi helped make tortillas for lunch and determined it is much harder than you might think. Luke attended soccer practice. We all got to observe the school and the lunch-time feeding program, and we played with the kids from both.

Tonight, after what was Lizzy's favorite meal (she eat her portion as well as Roberto's) we went out for ice cream with the kids who live at the ministry.  Cindy tried corn ice cream, an experience that does not need to be repeated!   According to her... It wasn't that bad.

We all survived John driving the ministry's bus - a bit bumpy at first, but smoothed out towards the end.  There are lots of fireworks around due to a celebration of St. Anthony.

The team is holding up well, able to do some things larger teams would not be able to do.  Pretty Awesome.

The Discovery Team is led by John Buskey, with Roberto Carlo, Cindy and Lizzy Falk, Luke Palumbo (all NY), and Levi Casto, WV.
