I have been going to Les Cayes, Haiti for the last 16 years. I have been a part of both construction and medical teams (as a layperson) and to teach at a pastor’s seminar that has been held each August. Each year we have 40 to 60 pastors in attendance. They are really good pastors but with a minimum education.

Since my retirement in 2009, I have been going there two or three times a year solely for the purpose of teaching on Biblical, theological, and pastoral topics.

I became involved through a Haitian pastor (Lubin Beaucejour) who lived here in Wallingford Connecticut not far from my house. He was/is the USA director of the Bethesda evangelical mission in Haiti.

My wife Debbie and I had a wonderful time in Les Cayes this past May. I had the privilege of participating in a large wedding (8 couples), a baptism (not pictured), I preached at the Bethesda Evangelical Church on Sunday, led a 3 day Pastor's Conference on "The Book of Jonah and Lessons for the Local Pastor", and then led a 2 day Marriage Enrichment seminar for 40 pastors and their wives. Each morning we began with worship, devotions and breakfast.  Each day we ended early afternoon with lunch.

I recently returned from another teaching/preaching event in Haiti that is held each August. I will be leading a similar teaching seminar in December in La Romana, Dominican Republic at the request of Elsa Phanord, the wife of the late Jean Luc Phanord and then I will be returning to Haiti again in May 2017.

Sincerely in Christ,

Bill Huegel
