How Hope Unlimited relates to International Minist

You might be wondering how Hope Unlimited ties in with American Baptist Churches. Hope has a Board of Directors who are successful Christian businessmen. (We have a few pastors too, but most are from a business background.) They pay for Phil's salary and all the expenses related to Hope's administrative office, located in San Francisco. The rest of the support comes from contributions from individuals, churches and other organizations like Rotary, etc. About 60 percent of the funds currently are raised in Brazil. We are using the money raised in the United States to start new programs while expecting the Brazilians to more and more take responsibility for the existing sites in Campinas (City of Youth, Ranch of Hope and the Graduate House). We continue to pray for God’s provision.

How International Ministries Supports Us

International Ministries has commissioned me as a single missionary. I am basically seconded to work with Hope in our ministry to the children of Brazil. Therefore, you as American Baptist help to pay my salary, some our housing here, our medial coverage and our retirement. As is the case with most missionaries, Phil had no benefits or retirement. (Phil started this ministry on his own credit card before he even graduated from college.) International Ministries has really come to the rescue for us.

Directed Giving

Also, you can support me through the World Mission Offering Directed Giving program.

Several vacation Bible schools have also adopted us.

Our goal, which is well on its way, is to have a model facility that can be imitated throughout the world. As I mentioned, the forerunner of this program is in Ethiopia. Philip’s dad always said we should hang a sign that says, "Please copy” outside Hope’s door.
