BREAKDANCER

Pastor Derli’s wife Denise was a little apprehensive when Yago asked to perform a solo choreography during the evening worship service.
Image002Yago is one of our five “special” students. Besides his mental disability, he has a minor bone deformation. When Yago arrived two years ago, he could barely talk, nor walk across campus unassisted.

We were initially pretty concerned about receiving a child with such severe disabilities. However, our heart was broken with his story, showing he had never really been properly cared for, loved, or valued. Besides, there was no other place for him to go . . .

Fast forward to the worship service last Saturday night; could that really be the same little Yago break-dancing on the stage? He was no John Travolta, we grant you that. But the other children, instead of laughing, were clapping and cheering. That moment was probably the highlight of Yago’s life.

Yago commutes to a special school during the day, and sees various specialists. However, we believe his progress is mostly the result of the loving and patient care of his house parents, Alex and Neide, who have been God’s primary instruments in his miraculous transformation.
Image004Today, the geriatric diapers Yago used are a thing of the past. He not only walks but dances. He not only talks, but sings. He not only senses God’s love, but loves God dearly, seeking to express it through dance and song.

Thank you for being a part of this miracle in Yago’s life. By providing for the tools and resources chosen by the Lord to perform this miracle, you have truly been God’s answer to our prayers.
