Martins’ Prayer and Praise
November 2011

Dear Partners in Ministry

It is with both great sadness and Joy that I write today.
Inn, who many of you have met in person or through our
journals, passed from this life to the next on the weekend.
We are currently in the states and were not able to be with
her in her last hours and days on this earth but are grateful
to our colleagues who were. We will dedicate this journal
to her honour and give glory to God as she would want.
We have known Inn for 4 years and at the beginning of that
time she gave her live to Jesus, when we first knew her
she was able to walk a few steps with a walker and
preferred to do it backwards as it was easier, but as time
went on she was able to do less and less. When we saw
her last she needed help in changing positions getting from
lying to sitting, getting from her bed to her wheel chair etc.
When we took her anywhere we would have to carry her to
the car. I would joke with her I was glad that she only
weighed 19 kg or less because I wouldn’t be able to lift
her.

Not an invalid
Inn was no passive invalid. She organized the family
farming and finances. She would sit out front of her house
daily greeting people with her cheery countenance, always
being up on what was going on in the community and
indeed the world as she listened to the radio and television.
Inn was a child of God, and she had a special relationship
with God as he revealed himself to her through dreams.
She was assured of his intimate knowledge of her, her
forgiveness of sins and a life after this one with Him. A
while ago in a dream she had walked with Jesus as he had
taken her on a walking tour of rooms he had prepared,
including one he had prepared for her.
Inn was a sister, friend and a co-worker. She was a leader
in our home groups and discipled another family. She
helped us by tutoring short term workers, helping them get
a better grasp of the Thai language. We would often call in
on her on our way home from various assignments just for
a quick chat. She’d ring us often, sometimes just because
she was bored and we’d chat for a minute or two,
sometimes because she wanted to clarify a point in her
Bible reading, sometimes because she wanted a lift to the
hospital.

Praising God
Before we left on home assignment we were studying Acts
with her. She latched on to the story of Peter and John
being used of God to heal a man at the beautiful gate. That
man went walking and leaping and praising God. God had
already given her the assurance of complete healing and
she said one day I will walk, leap and praise God. She is
at that point now.
She was very much a part of our life. We will miss her
greatly, but we know she is walking and leaping with
Jesus. To God be the glory.

Inn’s family are Buddhist and wanted to have a Buddhist
funeral, so the Christian community got together with her
parents and other people and had a Christian memorial
service for her the day after she passed away and will have
another service after the cremation. Please pray that
others of her family will be touched by God at this time,
comforted by Him and drawn to Him.
We have been comforted by God at this time and trust that
you too are comforted and encouraged by God as you
meet the challenges and joys of life.
In Christ’s love
Larry and Jan
