Today you’ll get two journals from me. This one, and a second one in “español” encouraging folks to sign up for the August 2013 Cuba Discovery Team. Think you might be interested in joining the group for 8 days in Cuba? Click here to read about it in English.

Today I depart for Cuba for about a month. Vanessa, of Calvary Baptist Church Norristown, PA, will join me for the first week, and then I’ll be on my own with our partners from the Fraternity of Baptists and later with the Eastern Cuba Baptist Convention.

As many of you already know, I am really looking forward to this trip and for the visits, projects, and ministries that I will be working with throughout my visit. Vanessa and I will start out the trip with a prayer breakfast and devotional at Emmanuel Baptist in San José de las Lajas, and will then join 20 or 30 other leaders for a week-long workshop on grant writing for holistic ministries that I’ll be co-leading with the Fraternity. Later I’ll travel to the center of the island for meetings and projects with churches and ministries there. Finally I will continue on to Holguín for the annual meeting of the Eastern Cuba Baptist Convention. This is a huge Convention and they are hopeful that pastors and churches from all over will gather for this special event.

I’d like to ask you for a few specific prayers during this trip:

·      For health for myself and our growing baby and plenty of energy as I minister and travel

·      For my husband Jorge as he encourages me from afar and waits for my return

·      For Vanessa as she experiences Cuba for the first time

·      For a dynamic and engaged group at the workshops we’ll teach together with the Fraternity

·      For the right words of encouragement at our partner convention’s annual meetings in Holguín

Internet access depending, you might get an update from Cuba. Keep your eyes peeled!

With gratitude,

Kim
