Over the next two weeks our children will be writing their thoughts about our calling to the mission field and their experiences during our exploratory trip to the Dominican Republic in November.  Each of them, upon returning home, expressed concern and interest in the various experiences we had there. It has been a joy to watch each of them discuss and process our trip and see how some of the experiences did not leave a lasting impression. While other experiences really captured their hearts and they still talk about them on a daily basis with us or their friends and pray for their new friends. Two weeks ago, Elisabeth shared about speaking life and how God spoke to her while in the Dominican Republic  (You can read her article here.) Last week, Nathaniel shared about his dream of hope  (You can read his article here.)

This week Samuel is sharing his food experience in the Dominican Republic:

One of the things I was excited about before we went and while we were in the Dominican Republic for our vision trip was the food we would get to eat! While there we ate lots of yummy chicken, it is called pechuga a la plancha, lots of white rice, arroz blanco and sometime rice and beans, lots of different fruits (bananas, pineapple, papaya, cantaloupe, and grapes), we ate fish which was super delicious and we even got to eat Cocoa Pebbles for breakfast a couple days. While we were in the capital, Santo Domingo, Madeline, who is also a missionary in the DR, bought us a pineapple to eat and also a real coconut! I was super excited to try both of these, I also wanted to try the sugar cane but we were not able to. The pineapple was really sweet, juicy, and delicious. The coconut was ok, we drank the water out of it. It was really fun to do. The water was not very sweet but I really enjoyed it. My brother and sisters really did not like it.  I think when we move to the DR, I will enjoy eating the food there.

Please pray for my family as my parents continue to raise support and also pray for the pastors and their families in the Dominican Republic.

God Bless,

Samuel
