“I never heard about that,” was what the Cuban guest in Nora's Spanish class said to the rest of the class this week.

For 10 weeks in the Fall and 10 weeks in the Spring, Nora directs a language program in which volunteers share their native languages with university students in Prague as a means of outreach. This gives the many non-Christians in the Czech Republic the opportunity to get to know a Christian, usually for the first time in their lives. There are various opportunities to share about faith in Christ, especially around Christmas and Easter.

So this week, as part of the vocabulary training, Nora went through the Easter story, explaining what happened 2,000 years ago in Jerusalem. One student had brought a guest, a young man from Cuba. He was not in the class to learn Spanish, but he did learn about the Bible and why Jesus came to earth, as well as about His death and resurrection. After the lesson, the guest came to Nora and shared how happy he was to learn about this, and that in Cuba he had never heard the story. It was the first time he had ever heard the Gospel. We pray that the Lord will continue to work in his heart and that Christ may also rise in his life.

Blessed Easter
He is risen,
He is risen indeed
