Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

As the time approaches to the celebration of the birth of the Son of God, taking the form of a human being, Jesus, our hearts are filled with gratitude for such love. Likewise, it has been an honor to have you walking with us in mission through your prayers, visits, and financial support. Jesus' presence was also manifested through you. Thank you!

Your prayers and support helped us to walk alongside these six young adults' disciples of Christ, who decided to take the step to get baptized on December 7th. It was quite a joy for the church family! Thank you for being part of bringing people to Christ and making disciples of Christ.

Below is the response of Denny and Joanne Jenkins to our last journal. May God continue to bless you with His presence through the Holy Spirit as the center of your life. His Spirit will guide us to see you during our US/PR Assignment, starting in July 2015 to July 2016. Your presence in our lives means a lot to us and we are looking forward to see you again next year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in Christ!

Blessings in Christ,

Vital and Ketly

November 24, 2014

Dear Friends of Vital and Ketly Pierre,

My name is Denny Jenkins and I was part of the Missionary Partnership Team (MPT) for the Pierre’s for several years. Recently, the Pierre’s wrote a letter discussing my wife’s and my relationship with them over the years. It was a very humbling letter for both of us. It brought back many precious memories. I would like to digress a bit and be like the old commentator Paul Harvey and give you “The Rest of The Story”.

Back in 2001 our church in Anacortes, WA (FBC) was interested in a short-term mission trip so, I contacted Mike, the STMT coordinator at IM. I asked him where the in the world was currently the most need. He didn’t hesitate, and said Nicaragua because of the horrific hurricane (Mitch) that devastated the country. Mike set us up with a trip to support an organization called “PROVADENIC” under the direction of Dr. Gustavo Parajon. PROVADENIC was the forerunner of the now very successful medical ministry called “AMOS” under the direction of Drs. David and Laura Parajon Dr. Gustavo Parajon’s son and daughter-in-law.

While setting up the trip, Mike from IM, said that Joanne and I must go and visit this couple that has started a ministry in Bluefields, which is on what is called the Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua. We said OK as long as we were in country why not? We arrived at their home and said  “Here We Are” and they said O.K. who are you? We explained that Mike said we had to meet you because you had such a passion for this ministry. That was the beginning of a wonderful and lasting relationship.

As the Pierre’s stated in their letter, we sat in their living room and I asked them where they thought God was leading them in their ministry. Vital said that God had directed them to buy property, build a swimming pool, a basketball/soccer court, a church/school, a Safe Harbor building for kids, and a building that later became a preschool and a housing for work teams and visitors. I asked the obvious question, do you have any money? The answer was “No but, the Lord will provide”. For every question I asked that night the answer was the same “No but the Lord will provide”.

When Joanne and I left their home we looked at each other and both said that these folks had great ambitions but boy they aren’t very realistic. That was the beginning of the greatest faith lesson I have ever had in my life, for in just a couple of years the Lord did indeed provide all they asked for! To this day I am amazed at what God has done on the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua. Not only has He provided terrific facilities in Bluefields but also in Kukra Hill and Rama as well! When I think back of that day I’m reminded of Jesus’ comment “Oh Ye of Little Faith”, what a lesson!

Their ministry that started in their home with their before and after school programs and church has blossomed into evangelistic ministries in several towns. The Lord does indeed provide!

As I mentioned earlier in this letter, I was part of the Pierre’s MPT for several years and worked with a lot of great churches and individuals that supported the Pierre’s with prayer, financial support and with work teams. Without the support of God’s people in the states, none of this would have come to fruition. I am especially proud to have worked with the churches in Colorado, California, Pennsylvania, and in Washington State. The folks at the Riverside Baptist church in California, Karen Dutcher in particular has been a stanch supporter of the Pierre’s for several years. The church has sent work teams nearly ever year and sometimes twice a year. “Thank You” to all the churches for your tremendous support over the years!

As the Pierre’s mentioned in their letter, I was able to go to Bluefields and visit my friends there last September. It was kind of a bittersweet visit knowing that this was my last time in Nicaragua. Health issues have been a problem and going on work teams is not in my future. I thank God for the opportunities He has given me to work with such wonderful, dedicated, and passionate, Christians such as the Pierre’s. As they used to say in my motorcycle circles “What A Ride”! He does in deed provide!

We ask that you continue to pray for direction for the Pierre’s as they pursue what God has in store for them in their future ministry.

May God bless!

Denny and Joanne Jenkins
