Never Would Have Made it!
Today, on this Thanksgiving Day I find myself flying to Washington State a few days for a required training. I have been so busy scheduling, sharing and meeting with people interested in partnering with me to support the girls at the Baptist Vocational Training Centre that I failed to remember that every few years my mother’s “celebrated” birthday falls on Thanksgiving Day. Well, today is such the day. While listening to Marvin Sapp’s song “Never Would of Made It,” it dawned on me…”I’m flying on mother’s birthday.” See, for about 75 years of my mother’s life she celebrated the wrong birthday! She had unknowingly switched the year with the date and did not discover until one day reading the family Bible. So you can imagine the surprise, she was actually 1 year older than she thought!
Traveling today brings about mixed emotions because my parents went to Heaven 4 months apart in 2008 and I miss them profusely! I am more than grateful for them and Him because I, on this Thanksgiving Day, am more certain than ever that without Him I “never would have made it!” Thank you God for the seen and unseen, tangible and intangible; for broken handles on luggage, for a puppy that darts under the bed if someone drops their keys, for the tears, the joy, the opportunities, challenges and blessings of friends and family. I thank you Lord for filling my heart and for allowing me to be a participant on this journey of hope to help make a difference in the lives of girls over 5,000 miles away. Thank YOU!
Please become “1 of 100” people, if you
haven’t already, that makes the commitment to the girls in Ghana who are
