MLK Observance
This month we observe the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. I paused for a moment to watch a PBS Special called The March. I did not realize how far reaching it was. People from Hollywood even participated. Stars like Charlton Heston, Joan Baez, Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte, Diahann Carroll and artists Peter, Paul and Mary and Bob Dylan. I am moved, saddened, yet inspired. I close my eyes to find the hope in my heart. Remembering the words of Activitist John Lewis, “…the distance we’ve come and the progress we’ve made,” as he views the MLK Monument standing 30 feet high in Washington, DC.
Peace carries a heavy price only because it is of high value, but it is so light to bear when we walk with God.
May we remember inspirational people past and present and say “Thank You” to those who care to make a difference in the name of peace.
