Technology and Electrical Power!

Driving is an adventure!
Wow, it's 10:30 pm and the power is still on! Time for a quick update.
Dann spent some time today working on electrical at the Casseus' home. Much work left, much accomplished. Apparently, there has been a fire there before they purchased the home for their retirement, which is why all the electrical has to be redone. He then spent a couple of hours with Max, the IT man here. I think they're pleased with the technical upgrades they've made.
Laurie and I made good progress today sorting, tossing, and packing. I'm humbled (and a little terrified) that she trusts me to pack her special heirloom items, such as a tea set from Grandma, and other valuables. After all, it's one thing to throw away old VHS tapes but an entirely different story to wrap antique bowls! I can't begin to tell you how dear Laurie is becoming to me.
I gave my first
knitting lesson this evening, which went well. My long- unused high school
French helped a little, as my Creole is nonexistent. However, the young man
staying at the same home as we are who could translate jumped in a couple of
times, although knitting terminology might have challenged him a bit.
Saturday we will tour the campus, which will be great to see as I've not done that yet.
We're feeling good,
enjoying a night off from the rains which can be heavy and long, and looking
forward to tomorrow, whatever God may bring. Oops, spoke too soon as the rain
just started!
Blessings, Nancy
Nancy and Dann said yes to this non-traditional volunteer experience. Not only are they providing a service for Laurie and Jules Casseus, they are simply BEING. Can you BE? Can you pack a box? Do you want to be blessed by the dear people in Haiti? More packers are needed!! If you are interested in serving in this unique and VERY needed way, contact us by email or call 1-800-222-3872 ext 2366.
