Amanda and the Rev. Jon Good have now been formally endorsed by American Baptist International Ministries (IM) for mission service in Hungary. The Farmington Hills, Michigan, couple will serve through the Baptist Union of Hungary, an IM partner, and will work primarily with the Baptist Church in Debrecen.

“God is doing great things in the nation of Hungary,” Amanda says. “After accepting the challenge to run something like 50 public schools, Hungarian Baptists are reaching out to help children and their families know Jesus and grow in their relationships with him. We feel drawn to Hungary and are excited to see what God has in store.”

Amanda and Jon will serve in the Baptist Church in Debrecen’s programs of evangelistic outreach, discipleship and church development and in the church planting initiatives of Hungarian Baptist Aid (HBAid), another IM partner in Hungary. Amanda, currently a music teacher in Northville Public Schools, will also assist with music education in several Hungarian schools. Jon, the senior pastor at Covenant Baptist Church of West Bloomfield, Michigan, will train pastors at the seminary of the Baptist Union of Hungary.

“It is very exciting to partner with the Hungarian Baptists in evangelism, church development and teaching,” says Jon. “I am looking forward to building relationships through which I can share the life-changing message of Jesus.”

In preparation for full-time ministry, the Goods are now beginning to build their partnership network in churches throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as entering into pre-field training and orientation. Once ongoing financial support sufficient to underwrite their personalized support goal is reached, they will move to Hungary with their four children—Rachel, age 14; Sarah, age 12; Elizabeth, age 10; and Andrew, age 7—for language study.

The Goods will be joining Carmella Jones, Carrie and Kurt Smalley and Larry and Rebecca Stanton as IM missionaries in Hungary. Carmella is endorsed to serve in Hungarian schools in partnership with HBAid, and Larry and Rebecca are serving in schools administered by HBAid. Carrie and Kurt are associate missionaries, serving jointly through IM and Pioneers, who minister in church planting and evangelism.
