Both long-term and short-term personnel are needed to serve as house parents to provide all around assistance at the Ministries of Faith New Life, Azacualpa, Honduras.
This ministry started in 2000 under the sponsorship of the First Baptist Church of Marshalltown, IA. The ministry is led by Dilia Zelaya, Director of the Ministries of Faith New Life, who not only directs the ministry, but also coordinates volunteer teams, food distribution programs, education and ministry programs, and cares for the children. Alex (who works as a handyman) for the ministry is providing preaching, but other pastor leadership and ministry is missing. Personnel who could provide leadership for the church as well as working with the Children’s Home ministry would be greatly appreciated. Honduras is easy to reach from Houston, Miami, and Atlanta; is on central time zone.
Term Length: 2 + years
Housing: Two three-Bedroom cottages with bath & shower are available, recently restored.
Vehicle: The ministry has vehicles which would be available as needed.
Stipend/Salary: The ministry would provide a stipend/salary for volunteers
Two primary qualities are required – (1) a heart for kids and ministry and (2) the ability to communicate in Spanish. All else is secondary. https://ministriesoffaith.wordpress.com/
Why someone from the USA and not Honduras?
- The ministry is not able to hire Honduran staff as houseparents because if Honduran citizens live in the housing provided for two years, Honduran law would grant them ownership of the property.
- Ideally/eventually, the ministry would like to have two American couples serving alongside Dilia.
- Dilia presently must provide translation for all visiting groups, so persons fluent in Spanish and English would be of great assistance in hosting visiting groups.
- The ministry includes a Children’s Home with a “Big House” which serves as Dilia’s home and a girl’s residence, a dormitory with 2 sides (one for men and one for women) used to house visiting groups; and 2 three-bedroom cottages intended for children and resident house parents. Also on the campus of the ministry are a church and a private Christian School, also owned and administered by the ministry.
