Kim’s work includes overseeing three Christ-like ministries for tribal people who are coping with the problems caused by AIDS, disabilities, and migration from their traditional villages to urban slums through the ministry of Integrated Ministries for Ethnic Minorities Foundation (IMEMF). The Thailand Karen Baptist Convention sponsors these ministries:

The House of Love is a home for women and children. This includes women who had been sold into prostitution, AIDS orphans, and children taken out of their homes by the Social Welfare Department because of abuse. Some of the residents do not have Thai citizenship and have few rights in Thailand.

The Christian Center for the Development of People with Disabilities reaches out to families who are caring for disabled in tribal villages. The disabled are often hidden away. This project is designed to help the disabled reach their full potential and be accepted within their families and communities.

The House of Blessing Day Care Center provides a safe place for children who live in the slums to come during the day. It prepares children to enter Thai schools, and works to strengthen their families. She is in the United States for several months to visit and share about her ministry.

She writes: Coming home to the USA for sharing-I look forward to this in many ways, but I have certainly been reminded that my plans are not always God's!  I was scheduled to return in September, but delays with my paperwork have meant a delay until Oct. 4th.  This has created space for me to finish some things here in Chiang Mai, but it means that I will have one day in Ohio before I begin traveling.  Would you please pray for good flights (and rest!) and a quick turnaround of jetlag?  Thank you!
                                                      Praise and prayer

o School break-it is the semester end, and our House of Love (HOL) students are looking forward to having most of October off from their studies.  Please pray for them, as many will travel to visit relatives.  Pray for some of our older students who do not get time off, but instead have to spend time in internships.  And please pray for our staff too with engaging and watching over the students who will simply stay at the HOL.

o Our House of Blessing (HOB) children will also enjoy 2 weeks of break.  Pray for safety as they stay at home, often in the care of older siblings.

o We have been receiving referrals for the House of Love.  Please pray for Kanchana and other staff members who will visit these students over the break and make decisions about the possibility of joining the HOL family.

o Praise God Waraporn, the director of the Christian Center for the Development of Persons with Disabilities (CDPD) has had extra time to get everything in order before her departure.  I am looking forward to traveling and sharing with her.
