Death Toll in Mumbai Terror Attacks

"The Mumbai attacks have elicited a strong response from leaders around the world, largely expressing condemnation for the acts of terrorism and condolences for the relatives of those killed. EFI has also expressed the same.
The bloody rampage carried out by terrorists at 10 sites across Mumbai, the nation's financial capital of India on November 26-29, killed at least 174 people and wounded 239, according to the official reports.
Places attacked
Eight attacks took place in South Mumbai
* At the crowded Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) railway station;
* At two five-star hotels: the Oberoi Trident at Nariman Point, and Taj Mahal Palace & Tower near the Gateway of India;
* At the Leopold Cafe, a popular tourist restaurant in Colaba;
* At the Cama Hospital;
* At the Nariman House Jewish center;
* And at the Mumbai Police Headquarters where at least three high-level officers, including the chief of the Anti Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra, were killed by gunfire. There was also an explosion at Mazagaon docks in Mumbai's port area.

Lists of Foreigners Killed
At least 22 non-Indians have been killed in the attacks in the western Indian City of Mumbai. Below is the name of the victims.
Israel: Five Israelis who were taken hostage in a Jewish cultural centre have been killed, a diplomat at the Israelis embassy in India said. None of the victims was formally identified, but the Chabad-Lubavitch community which runs the centre said Gavriel, who was born in Israel and his wife Rivka had perished as Indian commandos moved into the end of the siege.
United States: The State Department on Friday said five US citizens have been killed in the attacks on Mumbai. Officials did not name the dead, but the Synchronicity Foundation, a Virginia based meditation community said two of its members, father and daughter Alan and Naomi Scherrr, had died. It was not immediately clear if New York based Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife was counted among the five.
France: Two French nationals have been killed, Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said in the statement, without naming them. The president of the fashion lingerie company Princess Tam Tam said the two were its founders, Loumia Hiridjee, and her husband Mourad Amarsy.
Australia: Two Australians are known to have died in the attacks, Doug Markell (71) and Brett Taylor (49).
Germany: A spokesman for the German Foreign ministry said one national had been killed. He was not named, but a Munich based media firm, CAMP TV, said the dead man was its co-owner, Mr Ralph Burkei. An Indian security official has said that three Germans died in the attacks.
Singapore: Ms Lo Hwei Yen, 28, was killed after she was taken hostage in Oberoi/ Trident hotel, a diplomat said.
Britain: British-Cypriot businessman Andreas Liveras, a 73 year old yachting tycoon, has been confirmed dead by the Foreign Office.
Japan: In Tokyo Mitsui Marubeni Lignified Gas announced that one of its Japanese employees, Mr. Hisashi Tsuda, aged 38, has been killed.
Italy: An Italian, Mr. Antonio de Lorenzo, died in the assault, the Italian Foreign Ministry confirmed.
Canada: Two Canadian died in the attacks, one of whom was female, the country's foreign minister, Lawrence Cannon said. The name of the two has not been released.
Thailand: A woman Thai worker died in the attacks on the Oberoi / Trident hotel, Thailand Foreign minister said on Saturday, adding that she has work in the hotel's spa. A spokesman said five Thais were rescued.
One Journalist Killed
Sabina Sehgal Saikha, renowned Journalist of the Times of India was reportedly killed in the attacks.
