Kim Brown ministers in Thailand. Her work includes overseeing Christ-like ministries for tribal people who are coping with the problems caused by AIDS, disabilities, and migration from their traditional villages to urban slums. Lack of land and employment has forced people from rural areas to cities to find work. They are often exploited on the job and are at risk for being infected with the AIDS virus. The Thailand Karen Baptist Convention sponsors these ministries. One of these ministries is the House of Love (HOL),

a home for women and children affected by AIDS. This includes women who had been sold into prostitution, AIDS orphans, and children taken out of their homes by the Social Welfare Department because of abuse. Many of the residents do not have Thai citizenship and have few rights in Thailand.

Kim writes: God has done amazing things in providing for the HOL.  Not only did we have sufficient funding from sponsors and individual gifts to finish 2008 in the black, but the building project (from buying and filling the land to constructing the buildings) has had so many financial gifts!  A thesaurus says that “amazing” can mean inspiring awe or wonder, and that is our experience when we see the faces of the children at the HOL and hear their prayers of thanksgiving for how God is providing through His people.  All of us here in Chiang Mai feel that God has done exceedingly, abundantly beyond what we ever envisioned, and we want to thank each person who has given or prayed for the building program this past year.  Jehovah Jirah is indeed God our Provider.
