Debbie serves as the liaison of churches of India and Nepal, and the US enabling them to develop volunteer service and mission trips opportunities. This ministry involves an effort to help the churches of both sides to understand the culture, needs, and resources of each other. Debbie provides consultation and training to equip individuals and churches of both sides to develop mutual understanding and respect, and cooperative effort to provide personnel, financial, and other resources to each other via volunteer service and mission trips.

She writes: One of the things that I find difficult about being in a foreign land is feeling isolated.  When I was at Woodstock [Christian School in India], students and faculty spoke English well, and some even spoke “American English”.  You know; ALUMINUM foil, TRUNK of a car, etc. Here in Guwahati, usually I will go for several weeks before an American or native English speaker comes to the compound.  I miss the interaction and the luxury of shared experiences.  For instance, how do you explain “Hepburn & Tracy”, or “Philly Cheese Steak”?  What we always connect on, though, is God’s Love for us and His plan for us to tell others.

Last week, over 100 missionaries, pastors and students participated in the Annual Mission Consultation in Pfutsero, Nagaland, India.  When the American Baptist missionaries living in India were forcibly sent back to the US, the people of Nagaland did not wring their hands and wonder what to do.  They read their Bibles and started to work.  They reasoned that if a missionary had brought Christ to them, they should send missionaries to take Christ to others.

Today the Chakhesang Association has over 30 missionaries in China, Bhutan, Nepal, India, and, yes, the US.  They are supported by their home churches and can travel to places that are closed to our own missionaries.
