My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

From the bottom of our hearts, we say as the psalmist:  “Oh thank the Lord for he is so good!  His loving kindness is forever.” (Psalm 118:1)  God has shown His love toward us in many ways during these two and a half months on the road. We have been visiting churches, the family of God, from the East Coast to the West Coast.  We thank Him for the relationships that we have renewed and strengthened, and for the new relationships we have been able to establish.  Every home became our home, even though in some places it was for only one night!

We are grateful to be alive and to have been able to share with you some of God’s deeds in the lives of Nicaraguans during the last five years. He has brought many new people into our lives from Bluefields, Kukra Hill and Rama. The surprising acts of God have also transformed our lives.  We are also very grateful to the Lord for opening the hearts of so many people in the U.S. churches to receive the message of the transforming acts of God in Nicaragua.  The following comments are from two people who have e-mailed us concerning our recent visits. They are an inspiration to us and have given us the drive we needed to continue to live our suitcases for another month!

“I am so grateful for you both because if I hadn't gone on the trip to Nicaragua and heard you speak and how passionate you are about God's work; I might never have had the courage to answer God's call for my life. I would love to come back sometime!”

“We're also planning events that are not for "us" (the church) but for the community.  It's exciting to see the people starting to catch God's mission for them as a church.  So everything you were saying about reaching out to the lost in creative ways and not being comfortable was great!”

Our attitude of gratitude continues before the Lord for Joel Garcia, Pastor and Principal of Bethel School in Kukra Hill.  (Joel is shown in the photo with mission trip member Daniel from Illinois as they both help to build a new combined church/school in Kukra Hill in 2008.)  He has shared with us his meeting with the Ministry of Education and the process by which the government has agreed to pay for six teachers (not administrators) during the next school year.  Joel says:  “Everything is a process.  I believe that God has taught me once more to believe more in Him than in human strength.”  Yes, the Lord did it again!

As we celebrate Thanksgiving Day next Thursday, let us give praise to God for what He has done in our lives through His Son Jesus Christ.  Through His forgiveness, God creates a new relationship with us in Christ; consequently, God creates new relationships among us.   We thank God for you!

In Christ,

Vital and Ketly Pierre
