Prayer and Praise for November, 2009
The time in America has been fulfilling! Saylo and I have had so many wonderful opportunities to share in churches and with small groups, and meet the people who are praying and supporting the work in Thailand. One of the most special highlights has been the celebration of the 25th anniversary of my commissioning. About 200 people attended the potluck dinner—it was a wonderful time of reflecting and rejoicing on what God has done in the past 25 years. My time here will be coming to an end in early December. On Dec. 10, I will return to Thailand, arriving in Chiang Mai on Dec. 12, just in time to enjoy the Christmas season with all of the children.
Praise and Prayer Points:
- Thank you for praying for our annual October camp. We had a total of 48 children join the House of Love kids for 3 days of Bible teaching, special foods, fun games, and learning (child protection issues, AIDS). This was the first year that we could use the new House of Love compound, and it worked very well—what a blessing it is to have this beautiful property for ministry!
- When the HOL children wrote sponsor thank you notes following the camp, so many of them talked about how much they enjoyed the camp, and how they are already looking forward to next year being together with these new friends. We see it as a real ministry to the AIDS orphans that we support in scattered villages to give them a chance for these friendships with others who understand what it is like to lose a parent to AIDS. Thank you for your gifts to the House of Love and Health Project that support the camp in part. We are also grateful for the Boville-Murray funding that makes the camp possible.
- The Health Project staff is busy with preparing for survey work. Please pray for safety in traveling. Please pray for thoroughness of data collection, and good working relationships too.
- Please pray for the administrative team of the IMEMF, as they make plans for the celebration for the opening of our property on January 23rd. There are many details to attend to in addition to the regular work they do. Thanks for praying for Amnuayporn, Nok, Amy, Kaye and Lori.
- Please keep praying for the House of Love and House of Blessing grant we have submitted to the Japanese Embassy. They have told us that a final decision will be made in January. Khun Amnuayporn has put in many extra hours completing all of the governmental requirements—what a blessing she is!
In Chiang Mai, the staff is in the midst of Christmas planning, and would ask for your prayers for some of the special times on our calendar. On Dec. 5, the HOL children will go to Grace International School (GIS) for a party. Watching relationships grow between the two groups has been a joy this past fall. On Dec. 18, the House of Blessing children will meet with the 5th grade GIS students at GIS for their annual celebration. This will be the 6th year for this event. And on Dec. 19th, there will be a combined House of Love and House of Blessing worship celebration at the new property, with daycare parents invited to come for the special day.
