Prayer and Praise for April, 2010

In Thailand, it is our school break time, and April has been a wonderful month of special times at the House of Love.  Many of the children have been able to spend time with members of their extended family, plus I have been able to have many for special overnights at my home.  I know all of the children would say the highlight of this month was a trip to the beach that we took earlier in the month.  We had a 12 hour bus trip each way—and while that may not sound very fun to read about, the time on the bus is always a wonderful time of bonding (and eating lots of snacks!)  The accommodations were very simple, and we didn’t eat as much seafood as in the past—but the beach times were memorable.  Despite the political unrest in Bangkok, we also able to visit the “Dream World” amusement park on the way back to Chiang Mai.  We are grateful for the sponsors who provided funds for this special trip.  I hope you enjoy the photos from our adventure.

Praise and Prayer Points:

·         We praise God that our children have been so healthy, but I also want to ask you to pray for 2 House of Love (HOL) children who have just had to start taking AIDS medications this month.  Both Da and Pongchai’s blood levels indicated that they need to start on medications.  Psychologically, it is very difficult for them to realize that they are not just HIV-infected, but that they have AIDS that needs to be treated.  And physically, the drug regime is difficult, with side effects of nausea as well as allergic reactions.  Please pray for both Da and Pongchai during this significant change in their lives.

·         Thai laws regarding citizenship change all the time and we have one girl who now has the chance to get citizenship if we can have a woman agree to give a signature.  It sounds simple—but this woman is not cooperating—please pray we are able to get her to go to the proper office and sign the papers so Daw Song can have her citizenship and the opportunities that come with it.

·         This month, the daycare teachers are working as the house mothers at the HOL until new house mothers can be hired.  Please pray we can hire 2 new people who will be a blessing to the HOL.

·         Rejoice with us that 8 children graduated from the House of Blessing and will be starting Thai 1st grade in May.  Please pray for each child and also please pray for the daycare teachers, Kanchana, Rae and Rosalyn as they make sure the children adjust to new schools.

·         The second floor is being built on the boys’ dorm/daycare classrooms.  Thank you for praying for the needed signatures—we have those, and the work is moving forward.  It is exciting to see the building take shape.

·         This month, the Health Project staff is visiting the persons living with AIDS that we support.  Pray they will be an encouragement to each individual.  They are also working on making preparations for a youth seminar that will be held in a village.

·         Major repairs (on the roof) and major renovations are taking place this month at the CDPD in MaeSariang.  Please pray the work can be finished in good time before the new school year starts in May.
