The number of dead went up to 9,811 and 17,541 are missing.

I received an email from Rev. Usui, pastor at Kesennuma church where the city was seriously damaged by tsunami on March 11th.  It was reported that 5 big ships were lifted up by tsunami and floating inside city for a while.  These ships did serious damage to buildings and houses in downtown Kesennuma city and caused fire there.

Kesennuma Baptist Church is located on the hill side of Kesennuma city and tsunami and fire did not reach the church.  However, the church building and the preschool (kindergarten) run by the church was seriously damaged by the earthquake.  Three church members lost their life in this time disaster.  The photo is Kesennuma city now.

Rev. Usui wrote that “The big earthquake and tsunami hit Kesennuma and it was totally destroyed.  Because the electricity was cut and too many things to do for rescue victims, I could not send you email until today.  Please keep praying for Kesennuma.  It is the beginning of this disaster.  It will take a long time for us to recover from this time disaster.”

Please continue to pray for Japan.
