Prayer and Praise for May, 2011

One way my faith has been strengthened during my time of living in Thailand is to spend time in prayer. God’s hand is so wonderfully present in the lives of all of our kids at the HOL and the IMEMF staff—I am blessed to be a part of their lives. One of our traditions is to have a day of prayer and fasting in May before school starts. We will pray for the new school year, and intercede for one another for good health and needed financial resources, but we also spend significant time in thanksgiving for all who support us financially and in prayer (the list contains over 200 individuals and churches). We invite you to be praying with us too!

Praise and Prayer Points:
• Rejoice with us as the cornerstone was laid for the new building for the Center for the Development of People with Disabilities (CDPD) on April 28. I was able to travel to Mae Sariang for the ceremony, and I was joined by a group of Karen pastors and evangelists who where already in Mae Sariang for a conference. Only two of these men had ever attended a ceremony like this, and all were grateful to be a part of the joyful and meaningful time of celebration. Right now, the old wooden structure that had been a part of the original hospital is being torn down to make room for the new building, and construction will begin soon!
• School news—in America and many other countries, May is a month of finishing the school year, but in Thailand, May is the month of beginning a new one! Please be in prayer for our two school programs as we look forward to serving the ethnic minority communities in the north of Thailand. The House of Blessing (HOB) will resume on May 9th with over 45 students enrolled. We are looking forward to a new year of serving these little ones with our wonderful new facility. At the CDPD, they will start classes on May 16.
• The House of Blessing (HOB) will have a special visit with student from Grace International School on May 30. This is the same group of 5th graders who did a Christmas program. They wanted one more chance to bless these HOB little ones before the GIS year ends. Please pray for good interactions. I have always been impressed at how quickly the children bond with one another as they share God’s love.
• The House of Love kids are now back from their summer break, and we welcome your prayers for all that has to happen before school reopens (because of different school systems, we have different start dates). Perhaps you remember the excitement of getting ready for a new school year? Well multiply that excitement by 30 kids, going to 8 different schools—and you will understand why I am asking for prayer for everyone at the HOL in these next weeks!!
• Last month, the House of Love hired a new helper, Khun Nawadee who is exceeding my expectations. Not only is she wonderful with helping with the special studies a few of our HOL kids are doing, but she is insightful and compassionate. We need to hire one more helper—please pray we select God’s choice.
• I am so grateful for my stateside missions team who are working to get my traveling schedule in place for my upcoming trip to the US (July-Sept.). Please be praying for me as I prepare presentations and schedule churches and events.
