Prayer and Praise for December, 2011

December is a wonderful time in Thailand.  The weather is cool—all the way down to 75 degrees—perfect for celebrating the birth of Jesus!  And we have had some fantastic times of celebration—I hope you enjoy the attached pictures from the House of Love-House of Blessing Christmas program.  We were able to also celebrate the 10th anniversary of the House of Blessing that day.  There were many special moments during our program—but I was especially happy to have former students of the daycare come back and share with us.  It really is a blessing to know these young people are continuing on with their education.  I am grateful for each of you who pray and give financially in order to make an education possible for all of the ethnic minority children I work with at the House of Love, House of Blessing, and the Christian Center for the Development of People with Disabilities.  Merry Christmas to each of you, and may you be blessed in the New Year!

Praise and Prayer Points:

·         The House of Love (HOL) children are starting their mid-term exams—please be praying that each student will do their best.  And could I give you a special request?  One of our students, Mai, will graduate from high school this year and is currently doing her college applications and entrance exams.   Please pray she will be accepted in the right program.

·         One of the HOL supporters has given an extra gift for a Christmas dinner, and the staff and I will take everyone out for a fun evening next week.  We are so grateful for all who come alongside us here financially!

·         As the year closes—I praise God that all of our kids at the HOL are healthy!

·         The House of Blessing (HOB) children were also treated to a Christmas party by the 5th grade students from Grace International School.  This is the 7th year of this program, and it is a fun morning for all.  I especially like how these young students are able to bond with our daycare children in such a special way.

·         I am so pleased to report that Khun Saylo, the director of the Center for the Development of People with Disabilities (CDPD), is being recognized by the provincial government for the work CDPD is doing with persons with disabilities.  Along with several of the CDPD clients, they will be sharing about the different programs that have been developed.  Please pray this is a good exchange of information, and that persons with disabilities will continue to be more accepted into Thai culture.

·         The CDPD will have their Christmas celebration on Dec. 24 in Mae Sariang.  We will be able to share the Christmas story with many non-Christians—please pray for interested hearts.

·         Finally, I would ask for special prayer for wisdom.  As the IMEMF is going through registering with the government, the staff and I are looking at the organizational chart, making changes, and looking at updating our vision and mission statements.  I am looking to retire in about 5 years, and I see this as a key time for developing the structure that will keep the IMEMF strong.  Thank you for coming alongside me in prayer.
