Prayer and Praise for November, 2013

I am on the countdown for my return to Thailand.  It has been a good 3 months of sharing about what God is doing in northern Thailand, as well as having a chance to catch up on the lives of my friends and family.  An added bonus has been that Khun Nok’s English has greatly improved during this time in the US—and she has been able to see many places!   The staff in Chiang Mai have said the HOL kids are counting down the days until my return—I will land on Monday, Nov. 25th, at nearly midnight.  I look forward to being back with the HOL family and hearing their stories!  I would appreciate prayer for safe travels—it will take over 24 hours to make the journey.

I would also appreciate prayer for these things:

 ·         Praise!  School is back in session for all of our House of Love students.  Please pray for each one to work hard during this second semester.  We also ask for special prayer for 2 of our students (Naam and Aputanai) who will finish 9th grade in February and must make important educational decisions (whether to stay in an academic track or go to vocational school  If they chose vocational school, what should they study?)

·         Praise!  The parents of the House of Blessing daycare students came for a special parents’ meeting on Friday, Nov. 8th.  We are grateful for the Bible teaching done, as well as good times of sharing about the school.  Please be praying for the teachers as they work with their 47 students daily, as well as doing special times to practice for the upcoming Christmas program.

·         Praise!  The children are back in session at the School Preparation program at the Center for the Development of People with Disabilities (CDPD).  Please be praying for donors to come alongside the program and sponsor a child for $150/semester.  Information can be found on the International Ministries website (http://www.internationalministries.org/projects/98) or contact our office in Chiang Mai (info@imemf.org).

·         Another praise from the CDPD:  The director of the program, Khun Saylo, will be receiving an award from the Prime Minister of Thailand on December 3rd.  The government has been evaluating projects using ISO standards (International Standard Organization) and evaluated the CDPD.  The evaluation score was high enough for Saylo to be invited to Bangkok to receive one of the awards.  She will also be presented B30,000 (about US$1000).  Next month, we will certainly have photos of this presentation, and we rejoice that the Thai government recognizes the quality of the work at the CDPD.

·         Praise!  On Oct. 18 until Oct. 20, our staff along with the entire House of Love family went to an ethnic minority village about an hour from Chiang Mai, and hosted a youth camp.  About 100 youth attended—please pray that the transforming love of God touches each person.  We praise God for traveling safety and good health for everyone.

·         Praise! One of my deepest desires for each of our House of Love students is for them to have the freedom, safety and funds to pursue their dreams.  HOL is about to have the second of our young men finish his university education.  Once Ahjai finishes this term of student teaching, he will have an education and civil engineering degree!
