Every September, Soshin Girls’ School has their school festival Soshin-sai, Soshin's bunkasai. Bunkasai is “culture day” in Japan. During Soshin-sai, there is a "Senior Parade" where groups of seniors create a skit or dance. This year, since Miki is a senior, she, along with some of her friends, danced in the parade. They are dressed as fruit and vegetables and danced to a song about food. Then they invited the Soshin chairman of the board, Y sensei, to dance with them to a song about getting up in the morning. He is the “Mom” character in the center. You cannot see the crowd, but they were singing along with the group and responded with “Oha!” (short for ohaiyo, or good morning) on cue!
The Bible says,
“Let them praise his name with
dancing
and make music to him with timbrel and harp.” Psalm
149:3 NIV
Someday, we may all be dancing with and for Jesus. Are you ready?!!
This month, you may be hearing more about mission around the world and giving. We want to express our thanks to the many people that have responded and pledged toward our financial support. Would you consider a donation or pledge to World Mission Offering now through October? Please know that your part in the body of Christ is extremely valuable. Please donate at your local American Baptist church or visit:
