The Women Association of the Baptist Convention led by the Kihomi had a meeting at Titayen, near Port-au-Prince, the capital city from March 25-28. Forty-five women leaders from different states attended this meeting. They studied teaching methodology and reviewed the strategies for 2002. The association is also trying to identify the critical needs of women and how they can help each other.

The following are some examples:

Sister Louisemie Michel, a widow with two children was given a scholarship to learn sewing. This action brings hope not only to her but also to her family at large.

Sister Guerline Alexis, the only girl in the entire school of theology at the Christian University in North of Haiti was about to give up because of lack of financial support. The association of women through their national coordinator stepped in to pay part of her tuition so that she can continue to study.

The national coordinator, Kihomi Nzunga visited the sick persons in the general hospital in the city of Cap-Haitian where she prayed with some of them. One lady, know as Soeur Dayiti-Sister of Haiti was touched by that visit, the prayer and a little financial assistance that she could not stop telling people how God sent a stranger to pray for her baby who was about to die. A week later Kihomi received an early morning telephone call from the lady thanking her for the visit. "I don't have anything to give you. I will just be praying for you", she said at the end.

Nzunga and his two Haitian friends and assistant professors at the Christain University have now completed writing a book on the churches in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Haiti. The book compares the Baptist churches in the two countries. The book is an effort to inform the Christians in the two countries about their similarities and differences.

Last weekend Nzunga preached at the wedding of his former student, the Reverend Etienne Audieste in Plaine du Nord. He had the chance to see many of his former students and get an update on each of them.

The Nzunga family appreciates the extended International Ministries family and the support the family always receives for its ministries.

Yours,

Nzunga Mabudiga
