Let Peace Reign

Dear Loved Ones,

Good morning and may the peace of the Lord be with you today. We are doing fine and going on our daily activities as always. In fact this morning, I am going to meet our Agape Flights and get some help for the city of Gonaives after I drop our daughter at school.

However in the capital city of Port-au-Prince the situation is very tense. Armed men are killing and chopping off the heads of their victims. So far they are talking of 46 persons killed and 9 policemen. 5 policemen were buried this past Monday, 3 of them without their heads. The operation to kill and take off the head is being called "operation Baghdad."

Most of the activities (business, schools, etc) are paralyzed. In the north where we are, we don't have gasoline since the Gonaives crisis. Some diesel comes in and before you know it, it is gone in a minute. Now you can imagine the prices of goods.

The so called militants of the former president Aristide in exile now in South Africa want his return in power and the UN forces out of the country.

In Gonaives where all our efforts are being centered, there has also been tension. Beside armed gangs who are almost confiscating goods that are to be shared with everybody, two sections of the city were fighting. They are talking of 3 persons dead and many houses burned. The report is conflicting at this point. Some talk about 15 houses burned and some say 30.

We are all monitoring the situation. Meanwhile we are here where God puts us.

Please keep the country in your prayers and keep us close to your hearts.

Yours,

Nzunga Mabudiga
