Dear Loved Ones,

Greetings in the precious name of our Savior Jesus Christ. We invite you to come visit with us our Baptist Church in Pilate with its 1500 members and 22 preaching stations:

Pilate is a small town of about 70,000 persons reachable after 2 hours drive from our Limbe University. It is a very clean town where people depend mostly on agriculture even though some practice small trades. The town has 33 schools (grades and high schools) and one catholic run hospital. In this town you find Protestants, Catholics and Seven day Adventists. From our home to Pilate you cross 6 rivers without bridges beside Limbe river. Those rivers can make your trip miserable during the rainy season. The road is rocky and slippery in some spots. When hurricane Jeanne hit Gonaives, it also killed 11 people and left many families homeless in Pilate.

On Sunday January 16, 2005, we left our home at 7:30 in a rented Tap-tap (pick-up used for transporting people) loaded with boxes of clothes, shoes, toys and women needs. The trip was very nice and very pleasant. We got there shortly after 10 while the church was finishing its Sunday school classes. Before the service I visited our Baptist school which needs some good repairs. At 11, the real worship started that was to last for 2-1/2 hours.

At this church, the third Sunday of every month is women Sunday. They lead the whole service. Women put on a play on the story of how David was chosen among his brothers. If you want to find good Bible interpreters, you need to come to Pilate and you find them plenty. The angel was a young lady. The king was an old woman. All his children were women. God was a woman. The young David was a young girl who walked as an old man having troubles with his hips. The message was very clear though: God looks the inside and not the outside.

Pastor Blaise Ludia preached on "You are the light of the world." The pastor of the church and the preacher of that day were both my former students. It was interesting to see them in the real action of ministry and not in the classroom. As their "father" I was honored to say the last prayer and the blessing. Kihomi met afterward with women who were too many to count. After their meeting we visited the region where Jeanne hit, talked to people before being served a nice meal.

We continue to praise the Lord for you and the support you always provide for us. It is because you are behind our ministry we are able to go and assist those in need.

May God bless you all.

Yours truly,

Mabudiga &Kihomi Nzunga in Haiti.
