God’s Assistance When We Feel Helpless

Dear Loved Ones,

Greetings from The Nzungas in the carnival mood in Haiti. February 7-8 is the official carnival time in Haiti. Carnival is a popular dance on the street similar to Mardi gras. Our students have their carnival time before those official dates. Many churches use this time to organize youth retreats so the students are in a stable more evangelical environment.

The Association of Baptist Women usually meets during this holiday time since most women are freed from their work. This time they meet at Camp-Coq, the future site of their Conference and Training Center. Friday, February 4th, 43 leaders, trainers of trainers came from different regions of the country to attend a 3 day meeting. Two leaders came and left their high blood pressure medication at home. It was here at this same Camp-Coq that almost the same women learned about blood pressure and how to take care of yourself. Saturday morning the leader of the region, from Lascahobas Baptist Church was to start her presentation. In midst of her talk, she started going down. Her blood pressure has reached 190/120 and was becoming partially paralyzed.

Kihomi rushed her to the hospital where they took care of her. The next morning they found out that her diabetes has gone over 440 mg and she was about to go into a coma.

She was in the hospital where many Baptist Women are taking turns watching over her day and night. Three days after the crisis, this woman declared that she realizes only at this moment that she has sisters in CHRIST because she does not have parents nor siblings. The second woman who left her medication at home almost overdosed herself with Tylenol every time she had a headache while Kihomi was at the hospital with the other one. She left Monday to go back to Port-au-Prince. Kihomi called her today and she is doing fine.

We praise God that He assists us in times like this when we feel helpless. No one knows what would happen to this lady if she had stayed in her village. All works for the goodness of those who love the Lord.We say thank you to all of you for making this ministry possible. It is because of your daily prayers and your support that we are able to assist in a crisis like this one.

May God bless each and every one of you.

Yours on the field in Haiti,

Kihomi Ngewmi Nzunga
