God Sends His Angels to Assure Us

Dear Loved Ones,

Greetings and may the Risen Lord give you peace.

The election that has been reported four times is now just around the block, Feb. 7. Meanwhile the capital city has some incidents of violence. This makes us all wonder. We know of your supports. It is because of it that we are here in spite of the uncertainty of life over here. Your prayers sustain us daily and we can go ahead doing what we know without fear. It comes time however when we feel like we are all by ourselves. In those times, God sends His angels to assure us that we are not alone and we have people here who deeply care for us. Some are big and some are just small children, some we know, some we don't know. But each one plays a role in his or her own different ways. Take these cases as an example of how God is so wonderful.

This week end has been special to us. Saturday around 8:30 PM we had a knock at the door. "A big visitor", a voice said. I went to open the door to find out that we had a presidential candidate visiting us at this time. Our hearts started beating because we were not expecting such an important person such as the candidate for the Feb.7 election to visit us. The Rev. Dr. Romain Charles Poisset, a former student of our school, is from our Haitian Baptist Convention. Former minister of education, he is now the president of Jean Price Mars University in Port-au-Prince, the university he helped start. He was accompanied by a former minister of finances and a high ranked official in the army when the army existed.

We were honored when Dr. Romain said that they just wanted to greet us and they have been praying for us. We know that all the candidates are now pressed by time since Feb. 7 is just around the corner. It was a big honor for a presidential candidate to stop personally at our house and reassure us of his prayers.

Sunday around 2 PM three small girls age 9 and 10 knocked at the door. When we opened the door, we thought that they were bringing a message from somebody. They said: "We have come to visit you. We always see you in church and we decided to visit you today." Here are three small girls we don't know and we have not seen at all. We did not know what to say. We sat down and talked about families, schools and visited the fishes and turtles in our small fish pond. At the end they wanted some toys and left happily with beautiful dolls.

Before the day was over another knock at the door. A big voice said: "They have come to arrest you. You have the visit of the chiefs." This time it was UN peace keepers visiting. We sat down visited with them. After dinner they happily left for their home in Cap-Haitian.

We praise God for all these visits from God's servants. They are a big support to us in time like this, filled with the stress of the unkown.

Thank you again for your continued support. May God keep you safe and strong.

Please be praying for us as we near the election period.
